This is a typical usmle integrations exam question, so you have an idea how they will ask stuff.

You have a 66 year old man that has been suferring from prostate problems for the last year, he was having trouble emptying the bladder but because of the medication his taking he can empty his bladder, today they call you because he is in ICU:shock:, his son says that in the past month he was forgetting the names of his grandchildren and forgetting to feed the dog:(.

What complication might have made him, go to the ICU?

A- testicular torsion
B- lumbar cancer
C- Sammy Sosa:cool:
D- Cardiovascular problem

Most importantllly is why?

and thast how they will ask questions in the USMLE.

Disclaimer: this is a case that I made up, not a remember question, or anyhting like that.

d]cardiovascular problems......the patient must have taken prazosin/terazosin/doxazocon....which are selective alpha blockers....may cause..hypotension or tachycardia ......

just trying to co-relate......is it correct?

For BPH the treatment can be:
*finastride[5 alpha reductase inhibitor]
OR
*alpha blockers
OR
*TURP

I agree....cardio problem...but how does that tie in with him forgetting to feed the dog and the grandkids names??

Distrators in one way so you choose Pick disease, or Alzheima, or normal pressure Hydrocephalus;), but I forgot to include them on the answers

Shisha you are doing very good, that its how you need to think for the exams.

Also remember that you will have a autonomic response when you have a full bladder, and that can affect indirectlly the heart:shock:, and if the guy is forgeting to take the meds, he is not urinating:confused:.
