I was wondering what states are particularly difficult for IMGs to gain licensure? From what I have read, if a school is approved in California, New Jersey, and New York, you can pretty much get a license anywhere else as those states are supposed to have the most rigorous licensing procedures. Is this the case? Or are there some states even more difficult than the three I mentioned?

If you are able to get licensed in CA, you should be good anywhere. CO has a bad reputation, but I know of carib grads who are licensed there. G

I am looking at Ross, AUC, and SGU, will it be easy to get licensed in California coming from these schools after residency?

I don't know whether it's easy or not, but there are quite a few AUC grads in CA. One lady I met who is an AUC grad has one of the biggest FP practices in Bakersfield.

SGU/Ross, I assume are as good in this respect but I really don't know.

Any of the schools, AUC, Ross, SGU will allow you to get licensed in CA without much problem. Just check the CA requirements and make sure you have done all of the requisite rotations, such as FP. G

I have heard that Hawaii has a good number of IMG doctors. This information is coming from a friend of mine whose parents are IMGs who work in Hawaii. If I can get licensed in California will Hawaii be open as far as licensure? I was also wondering about Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.

Texas has basically passed a new law stating that a foreign medical school needs to have a GME program. This means they need to have their own residency program.

None of the Carribean schools to my knowledge have their own residency program on the islands on which they are at.

Ross is attempting to start some sort of residency program at Roseau, Dominica at Princess Margaret Hospital to fulfill that requirement. That would may fulfill the TX requirement. I don't know from where they will get residents to attend that program. Perhaps, from other lesser medical school.
