Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows if it's possible to work within the EU with a Russian medical degree, or if there's some sort of a tantamount USMLE- or PLAB-test to pass before one is allowed to practise?

hi there..
i can give you actual instances of russian medical graduates that are presently practicing in the EU..
After completion of medical school in russia.. you can get accepted to any residency program in the EU provided that you take the proper equivalency exams and have the adequate grades..
I believe that now the EU is short of MDs.. although many EU countries have installed the Numerus clausus system. Many are now " importing" foreign MDs.
each country has its appropriate equivalency exam.. as the PLAB in the UK.. and the forth.. each and every exam from each EU nation is recognized by the EU.
good luck
