Almost certainly since they were built (1995 or so) well after the phase-out date for use of asbestos products.

Almost all the manufactured construction materials (drywall, etc) are from the US.

I don't think so. This is a 3rdworld country and using 3rd world material

The only materials used that don't come from first-world nations (and mainly the US) are the aggregate (crushed rock and sand) and water used in the concrete.

The aggregate comes from Saba (Saba aggregate was also used to build the new airport terminal in Sint Maarten). The water comes from the ocean.

And if you think Saba is third world, you've lead a very, very sheltered life.

WOW, saba is FAR from third world.

Question for people who think that: IS ignorance bliss?

Although I'm just in my first semester (our first anatomy lab exam being yesterday), I happen to like SABA a lot (although getting milk at MyStore is tough, and who has the time to go to Windwardside???)...the water pressure does get a bit ghetto in the morning , though :P.

if you have been living in guantanamo bay for the last year OR if you have just contracted gonorrhea ...........THEN YES saba gets better once you move out of the dorms

The only thing I don't like about saba is:

1) The fact that Matthews has no kitchen type area (stove, oven, etc).

2) It'd be nice to actually find something that isn't expired, vegetables that are actually fresh (as opposed to the ones that just started turning brown - yum)...

3) The fact that, the one place that should be semi-hygenic (the medical school's cafeteria) - isn't.
- I mean, how hard is it to actually wear a hairnet and some gloves? It's pretty gross seeing someone drop something on the floor, pick it up, put their hands on the counter, take your money...and then make your food.

if you will read my post u will realize that i am comparing sabas dormitories to guantanamo bay, which while being quite a stretch, achieves my goal of illustrating the sub par experience i had which was in complete agreeance of your post, which perplexes me as to why you would repost in disagreement, yet agreeing simultaneously. it is also noteworthy that i also meant that it is in my opinion that the improvement is not that dramatic, even though yes, you get a kitchen.

the only thing i can even think of saying to you now is =
Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

that is all

i didnt know you were comparing the dorms to gitmo/gonorrhea. it wasnt very clear. even as i reread it, it seems youre saying that life after the dorms is only better than a prision and a disease. maybe your comparision was too harsh for me to make the connection.

and besides getting a kitchen (you can eat something non-microwavable) you get your own bedroom, a shower with water pressure and hot water all day rather than just 4 hours a day, a roommate that you can choose instead of being forced with someone, a living room with a couch and a television with more channels than i get back home.

now i shall alt tab to my powerpoint.

I have gotten food poisoning ( Staph. Aureus?!?lol) twice from the Roti's ( the second time it was clearly my fault casue I shouldhave known better, but I was hungry)... BUT dont complain. God they will put it in your file , Believe it!!

Edited to say: you see me and I dont look like the "pack lunch type" well now I do, I will never eat caf food ..(except egg ham and cheese's god i love those!!!
