School Building Locked Down

The MUA-B campus building was locked down earlier this week by the landlord. At first, we were told it was only temporary and that classes would resume next week by the Dean. However, my landlord told me that out was due to the fact that the medical school owed several months rent to the owner of the building.

This is a WARNING to any student to go elsewhere. I arrived early to get settled and although Ambergris Caye is very pretty and the people are nice, the school bldg. looked more like an elementary school than a medical school. Yes there are a few usable classrooms and some faculty offices but the library has only a few old books and many computers don't work. I am out of pocket rent, airfare and other expenses. Oh, did I mention that there don't appear to be any faculty to teach at this school? I feel lost and don't know where to turn next.

After reading a few posts it is obvious how corrupt mua-b is. I hope the students sue the people responsible. This is totally unacceptable.

Apply to SABA, MUA, SMU or others. GET OUT. See if you can get a refund on tuition. If you can't, then take the loss and wait it out until you can get into another school. Also, call any loan people making loans to these people and tell them as well.

everybody chill out "nothing's happening" lol, it's BREAK TIME!!!,(students just came off of a semester break) ALL FACULTY AND STUDENTS PROBABLY HAVEN'T RETURNED TO BELIZE JUST YET..PEOPLE WILL START TRICKLING IN BY NEXT WEEK FOR SURE!, the school i'm sure is'nt "closed down", so people stop insinutating and making up "facts", the real facts are: SCHOOL HAS MULTIPLE GRADUATING CLASSES, SCHOOL HAS BEEN OPERATIONAL FOR SEVERAL YEARS IN SAME LOCATION, SCHOOL HAS MULTIPLE USA ROTATIONS, SCHOOL HAS HAD 100'S OF STUDENTS ATTEND BASIC SCIENCES AT MUA BELIZE. If you are a student "soon to graduate" how do you know what is going on here on the island? We all know who you are. Things would be much better if you'd do your job instead of wasting your time posting these outrageous replies.

Also, I remember you claimed that MUAB "owned the building". Clearly that was not true, so why should we believe anything you say?

go back to school and learn abc's the info comes from the posters on the forums, better yet, try getting a job instead of asking for handouts from the tourists (like majority of belizeans do, since you claim to be "belizean")

Billybill why is it that you are the only student who ever has anything good to say about the school while hundreds of students are posting that it was a mistake they chose this school. Give us the residency list if you are so confident that the school has residents in state. Give us name of hospital they are in. Why is such a fact which promotes many school is just non existant for MUA-belize ??

if you want FACTS, call THE SCHOOL'S ADMISSIONS OFFICES LOCATED IN USA OR CALL SCHOOL DIRECTLY!!, AND DON'T JUST THROW NUMBERS OUT "LIKE HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS".." If May 14th is scheduled registration at MUA-B and this is May 18th, then all classes should be in full force with everyone there, all faculty and all buildings open.

I read and respond to the forum in my spare time because I like to see what is going on back on the island of Nevis etc.... and able to respond to questions about clinicals, residency and the USMLE.

Billybill you can pretend to be someone else all u like, but the fact is apparent. There are students here that are posting that this school is one to avoid. The fact, as you kindly pointed out, that only 10 students are posting here is because, lets face it, there are just that many students left! Everyone else has already transfered.
As for calling school to find out simple facts, why do i need to do so?? Most school use stats like USMLE pass rate and Match list to sell themselves. Majority have their match list posted on their website... most with the speciality and the hospital students matched in. You know why is no such thing exist for MUA belize?? Because this figure simply does not exist for Mua-belize. And if you were to make up such a figure, people will call the hospital and find out.

Potential students need to know whats going on thats why students post here. With the way things are going in belize, you better start looking for another job and hope you dont have to serve a jail term for fruad.

Nevis is no way angelic and all schools have problems. But our profs can't afford to take people on dates to the Four Seasons....LOL. I was friends with many profs and never was given any help towards a test or test bank.

The rumors you heard are unfounded. We on this posting site are trying to help those that are concerned for their future. We are not here to bash your school etc.... St. Christopher in England had some problems with a lot of warning signs. We would just like to see a match list etc.... USMLE scores and such. I know of two people that transferred to MUA-B and they never made it past Step 1.

We do wish you and your school well. I know if I got wind of something like this about MUA-N I would have concerns. I know I was a bit concerned when I read about the Equinox investment - which some people called a buy-out. I also had a heads up when Keybank pulled all the loan funding from the Caribbean school. I just want my school to be solid and around when I apply for a permanet state license and I think you do too.

We all have the same goal folks.... let's keep a focus on that.

i called your office 8 times in last 3 months and their reply was "we will post it on our website by the end of this week or probably next week" its been 3 months now and no list so far.
so ur telling us that ur only a student and u dont even know if residency list exist at all? you have mentioned quite a few times on this forum that there are students in residency. care to tell us how did u know there are some students already doing residency? where did u hear this from? if u personally know any of those residency ppz, pm me their name and email address or atleast the name of the hospital where they work so i can check with the hospital. dont just say that there are students in residency, prove it. how come other schools have residency lists and mua-b doesnt? seems to me that they are trying to hide something
