If you're a Canadian whose GPA is >3.0 in the Faculty of Science of any Canadian University, you will tear it up. If you don't want to do research or a Masters degree after undergrad while you wait to get into a Canadian med school you should go to Saba (or any other Caribbean school).

well MCAT is good, as well as the ARP. Possibly also contact the NAACP and the FRCP. GL and TTYL.

If you got a 3.5+ GPA at UBC or UT (or wherever) and you don't get a 99 on Step 1, then you didn't study hard enough.
I know students who had undergrad 2.5-3.0GPA and ended up matching FP in Canada, but that might be pushing it.
Don't underestimate how much harder Faculty of Science is in Canada vs the US colleges (or quality of education). It really helps when it comes to in-class exams and board exams.

I know exactly what u mean,i hada friend who was getting 3.5 in the states and struggled to get a 3 at UoT.
I had never heard of things like DROPPING a lower mark off your transcripts before reading some comments here by ppl from U.S. schools.Im sure it doesnt happen at the well reputed state univ but still....

There is a lot of truth to the difficulty of CDN vs. US schools in terms undergrad science degrees (and thats not a knock to any of the hardworking US boardies here). Science degrees from any of the upper echelon CDN schools (McGill, UT, Queens, Waterloo, UA and UBC) are looked highly upon by UK, US and caribb schools (many CDNs that barely missed getting into CDN med schools would be considered strong candidates in the US if not for the in-state limitations on student enrollment).

How do you fight the pressure / social prejudice towards foreign med schools, especially to the Caribb. How do you deal with your own inner demons - how do you deal with feeling inadequate for not getting into north am. schools?
