Did anyone get a scholarship? If so, what was the amt? Thanks.
well i know that a few citizens from grenada and st vincent get full scholarship to the sch ( combination of government and school funds) and i think trinidadians have a full tuition scholarship (combo again). there is also an international peace scholarship, i think available to non US students (not sure about that) which gives you a variable amount. there may be others.

there was a list of scholarships available on the separate form that you had to fill out if you wanted to apply for a scholarship. it's really hard to get one if you're from the states, so don't really count on getting one, and have it be more of a surprise once you do.

Many Canadians qualify for the International Peace Scholarship. Here's the link to list of scholarships from SGU's web site Financial Aid - School of Medicine - St. George’s University (http://www.sgu.edu/website/sguwebsite.nsf/som/financial-aid.html)

I'm a US student and got a scholarship when I applied to financial aid for it, right after I got accepted to the medical school. It's not much considering it's supposed to be used for the entire medical school education, but I'm grateful for any amount. Asking for amount from people is tricky. My (close) friends and I were discussing it and discovered we were all given different amounts, with a wide range between the most and least. I suggest you apply if you need money for school...it never hurts to try.

I found out about my scholarship when SGU sent me the preregistration material which included the financial aid/billing statement. My scholarship amount was stated somewhere and it was subtracted from my overall cost...so the leftover amount was what I owed them, which I requested from private loans. Hope that helps.

when did you apply for the financial aid? when you sent in your application? or after being admitted? I initally said that I would be able to fund the education with the help of my parents, but now that it is coming down to it, I really am trying to pitch in a bit myself, but am not sure how to start. What about loans, what is the best way to go about getting a loan (I'm a US citizen from california)?
Thanks

they have forms for you to fill out for loans once you get accepted. As for the scholarships there was a separate application that you had to download and send in. If you have more questions about this you should call the school because they will be able to help you specifically. No one on here works for financial aid.
They told me that they will send out the financial aid email sometime in June or early July and with that they will send out the application for scholarships as well. hope this helps.
