From what I understand it is not and you should call Pat Parks and ask her.

its up to cali to decide if they will make the approval retroactive or not...

unfortunately theres no set rule so it may be retroactive or it may not be.... i spoke to patparks about this earlier (about a yr ago) and thats what she told me.. and she said theres no way of really making any educated guess as to which way it will go... she couldnt elaborate on any specific criteria that would favor or hinder a retroactive approval because its the committees decision

answer is unknown -- it depends of the CA board when they approve the school.

If its not, its really sad.

I'm sure the school is pointing to the success of its graduates in making its case for approval. In essence, CA approval will, in part, be built on the backs of its former graduates and they will not get the benefit being allowed to practice in CA.

It would be a real slap in the face to so many of us who busted our butts, scored >220 USMLE's, and have had successful Residencies. All the more so because SABA said as far back as 1998 that CA approval was imminent...

This question has come up so many times and has been answered so many times (I believe once by Pat Park herself) that I really should make this a sticky.

When I spoke to Pat Park over three years ago about the California approval process and whether it would be retroactive for previous grads she told me that there was no set policy. She did, however, tell me that every school that had been previously approved (at least at that point) had had all its grads retroactively approved.

Keep in mind folks that there was a time when none of the caribbean schools was approved and none of the Big 3 Grads seem to have any problems now.

Still, all we can do is wait and see what transpires.

Best of Luck!
