Off Campus Life in St. Maarten

I heard compared to SGU and Ross, AUC students have a better quality of life because St. Maarten is technically a colony of the Netherlands. That being said do they use Euros?? I really hope not because the Dollar just keeps falling against it. Also when we have our breaks, is this a good island for fun, in other words is it easy to meet beautiful women? I have been working out for 3 hours a day doing weights, Taebo, Step Reebok and bikes to look great for the beaches to get a body to impress the ladies, since I lost a lot of weight I have noticed that women have been making passes at me which is weird because most women where I live are pretty conservative, so I am looking forward to meeting some uninhibited ladies on the island. Mind you I am going to study my butt off, but I am looking to enjoy myself during the breaks.

SXM uses the dollar, mostly.

There are not shortage of women. SXM is a tourist trap. As such, there are tons of people there looking for a good time.

As hot as you must be...you should probably just write up an application. You need a way to sort out all of the girls who will no-doubt be flocking to you the moment you arrive at the airport.

I'd suggest a short questionaire, maybe some multiple choice, maybe some short answer questions to get to know the girls a little better. Of course, a picture is mandatory. Then, you can just sort through the list and choose whichever one you want.

But, who are we kidding? The application isn't really necessary...just as long as she's hot and can cook you dinner!

I was looking up stuff on Orient Beach, its supposed be one of the most famous nude beaches in the world, I think I am going to arrive really early so I can have some fun for a couple of weeks before class. I can't count the number of times since I've been in med school that I've had to calculate the hang time of a 80kg clown fired out of a cannon at an angle of 35 degrees to the ground with a muzzle velocity of 88 meters per second. Or what's gonna happen when you're in the ER and somebody needs to slide a block of wood down a rough-surfaced incline, huh?

The latest edition says that the DelFina bed & breakfast has gone out of business and the owners are considering turning it into either a strip club or brothel. Needless to say, the neighbors are pitching a fit over this. Plus, it's right down the street from an expensive children's school, so the transition seems unlikely. Nonetheless, I knew that this was the sort of info that would be met with a certain level of interest here on ValueMD.

Euros are sometimes used on the French side, but I've never had a problem paying for anything in dollars. Usually they give you 2 prices, the Euro (or Gilder on the Dutch side), and the price in US dollars. You don't have to exchange money. There's lots to do on the island, and if you get bored of St. Martin during breaks, you could always island hop and take a trip to St. Kitts, St. Thomas, etc. Pick up women at your own risk because there's a high rate of HIV on the island.........but hey, whatever floats your boat lol

I read on their website they decided to close up shop and sell the business to some other friends of theirs on the island who run one near little divi (or there abouts). It wasn't going to be an "alternative lifestyle" place to stay, rather one for the whole family to enjoy!

Yes, I always pack some heat when grocery shopping. I usually also take the long way home when coming home from school to avoid the "gangs" that hang around causing trouble. :):):):)

St. Maarten is like any other major city. Don't go down dark alley's, don't go running at night in unlit areas. Don't wear flashy jewelery and flash rolls of money when your out and about. You'll be fine if you just act smart.
