Since I'll be departing Atlanta next week I thought I would say a few things about my experience with Atlanta AHEC. The group has been FANTASTIC. When everything fell through with the group AUA started us out with they picked up the ball and took it in for a touchdown! The attendings I have rotated with have been top notch and some are world renowned in their professions. All of them that I have worked with are very open to "YOU" getting hands on experience. That is something that a lot of our comrades from other schools can't say. You get a true sense of what a doctor patient relationship should be and learn the intricacies of proper history taking, physical exam techniques, assessment, and are very much involved in the plan. The letters of recommendation I got from these physicians played a vital role in securing a residency position.
Atlanta AHEC was always there to help us. When we couldn't get in touch with anyone at the school to guide us Dr. Powell and Mr. ***** always stepped in and guided us in the right direction. Those that run Atlanta AHEC did far more than just set up our rotations--they guided us, gave us advice, and were always there in times of need, and for that I am extremely grateful. Heck, they even gave us a going away party last night! So for those schoolmates that are looking for a great opportunity to learn more than just medicine I highly recommend you consider Atlanta for your rotations. I wish those that are well on their way continued success. To all of you that are about to start this fun and exciting adventure I pray that you will take courage, a strong heart, and wisdom with you on your journey ahead.

Do a little more research and you'll find that Emory, Morehouse, Mercer, MCG are all involved as well as Atlanta Medical Center. I'm sure you were just looking at the Atlanta Medical Center site.

I saw that those universities were involved. I was under the assumption that those Universities also send students through AHEC to do IM, OB, Surg rotations at Atlanta Med Ctr. Are you trying to say that AUA students through AHEC have access to rotations at those universities?
What rotations besides the ones at Atlanta Med Ctr are available to AUA and Green?

AHEC gives you access to great rotations and all of them that I've been through are green. One thing I've learned through my rotations is you can never say, 'never' or 'always' in medicine so I'll refrain from using them now. But as I say, all of mine were green.

What rotations offered through Atlanta/AHEC are green besided IM, OB, Surg which I mentioned earlier. You seem to imply there are more but don't say what they are. You say all the ones you did at AHEC were "Green"...which ones did you do at AHEC and at what hospital?

That would be all the cores and sub-specialties under the cores. There is Grady, Emory Crawford Long, and AMC. Some attendings may take you with them to work on cases at Northside, South Fulton, and a few other hospitals as well. When doing family you will be at Legacy.

Hey Guys, I had question about rotations in Atlanta. i am currently in 3rd sem and am worried about the different things thrown around campus, regarding the ATL Rotations. I have heard it is being taken out. This really worries me cause I am from ATL and am really looking forward to only doing my rotations in ATL. Can anyone please clearify this..

Atlanta (AHEC/Legacy) is no longer listed on AUA website as having a hospital affiliation. Don't know the official word of what happened.

I haven't heard anything about this from people I know that are in Atlanta. You should call the NY office for details.

Yeah Sree that is the best advice as you usually give. To throw in my two cents, rotations if Georgia as a whole is going to be a problem if you a re a non lcme school that is not paying GMC their blood money lolololol.
