Wow that is interesting! Did this just happen after the buyout? I guess he has good experience since Saba is older.

Dear SMU students,
I am very pleased to announce a new addition to the SMU leadership team.
Dr. K has joined us as Executive Dean. Dr. K will be based on Cayman and will be responsible for the overall operation of the Cayman campus, including both the medical and veterinary schools. In this role, he will report to me.
Dr. K has extensive experience in medical education, including approximately 15 years in Caribbean medical education. He spent four years responsible for all affairs of the Saba campus of Saba University School of Medicine. He worked at Ross University for almost 10 years, serving as Dean of Basic Medical Sciences and Professor of Physiology as well as Dean of Administration and Vice Dean of Physical Plant and Facilities. He also has an extensive background in research, with more than twenty publications to his name. Dr. K earned a PhD in cell physiology from the University College of Wales in the U.K.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. K to the SMU team.
Kind regards,
JM

Cool, glad to have him. I bet he will enjoy Grand Cayman more than Saba. SMU is working hard on getting better, everyday.. I can only trust in the people who make the decisions.. and hope they make the best one for the school and students.

Are you saying that the previous head of admin in Cayman, the simple of greed and autocratic power, and his VMD lackeys and corrupt loyalists are history now or still holding their last breath?

Wouldn't be the first time former Caribbean med students opened up a Caribbean/offshore med school of their very own. G

I'm pretty sure Dr. G is Chief Academic Officer. Something like that...

I think this new executive dean position is a completely new position. Nobody is being replaced or anything. It's more like an administrator that will be in charge of the med and vet schools on Cayman. Dean of basic sciences is a different position. Personally, I think it would be a terrible idea for SMU to get rid of Dr. N anyway.

I agree. Dr. N has been a great asset to the school.

Dr.N is a large part of why I switched schools from AUC to SMU! I explained my situation and he assured me nothing like what I experienced at AUC would happen at SMU and he was true to his word. Dr.N was always available for questions and I enjoyed his open door policy. I really feel he has tried hard to make positive changes to the school while still maintaining the student friendly atmosphere they are known for.

1- Long term experience in administration at Ross and Saba. Students who were at both Ross and Saba schools described him as great and firm leader, excellent communicator, and a team player to both faculties and students. While one admin in Cayman appears good and cares about students, we now know for sure that he is a terrible person when it comes to the way he communicates with faculties and staff and this definitely reflects badly on us as students and the stability of the school.
2- Dr. K has outstanding educational degrees from prestigious universities and not from unknown or no longer existed universities. These credentials will be an asset when they get reviewed by the accreditation bodies like California or others.
3- Dr. K was a professional leader at both Ross and Saba. He never enrolled a son or a daughter to study medicine for free and never hired any family member or a friend and gave him so much power to mess up with students and get away with it for long time.
4- Dr. K respected the NBME strict regulation of the shelf exam held for so many years at Ross and Saba. The shelf exam was never ended up with his relatives and friends and favorite faculty members. The NBME impose very strict regulation on shelf exam as these exams are samples from the USMLE pool and no one should violate its confidentiality. The Pharm shelf exam scandal is no longer a rumor as I witnessed on my own eyes the pharm shelf exam questions being reviewed one by one few day days before, so we all get fooled and think we did very well.
5- Dr. K is a moderate man, so no religious reflection on his performance as an executive dean. This will guarantee a fare treatment to all students without any bias or discrimination for any reason.

Having been a student at both Saba and St. Matthews, i can say from experience that Dr. N's capacity as an administrator is of excellent quality. Without belittling Saba's administration which has had its fair share of questionable decisions, some of which led to professors leaving saba to come to SMU, if one were to ask some of the recent 5th or 6th semester students who left saba what their experiences were with him, they would have complaints about their administration. Regarding Dr. K, and the 'reasons why he will succeed,' really speak to some saba students and see what their experienced opinions of the dean are before insulting Dr. N. Who, has a far different role as others have said, than Dr. K will.
Sorry, i just think having been at both schools, and having met both deans, that some people may want to hear from someone with a different opinion.

Those who tried to get rid of him failed because he was promoted from executive dean to Chief Academic Officer and was kept under strict protection from the same evil hands that has been missing up with the school for the last 2 years. God bless him.

And seems to have inside info also...Hmmm doesn't seem like a student to me. Dr. G is a great person, but when it comes to teaching it was a different story for me.
