Roommate question

Do they pair SOM students with SOM students or MPH students with MPH students for first term housing or is everyone (med, pre-med, mph, and vet) mixed together?

They generally matched med students together. My roommate is med. My med friends all have med roommates. My vet friends all have vet roommates. The 2 people above us, the ones who must constantly make noise from 9am - 2am each day, are both MPH. It's an anecdotal contribution, but I'm confident it's generally matched according to program.

What rocks is if both you and your roommate are in the same labs. Then y'all only need to set one alarm clock. $$

premed are in Y or another building, generally all together, but they get their own room and its cheaper (about $1000ish, its $3000ish for other buildings). Med and vets get the newer buildings SD2, SD3, or the much nicer IMO SD4 where you get your own room. Generally I think they try and match med with med and vet with vet, but I know a few people who are med and share with vet, but they are the same term and it seems to work out a little better in some ways as you have class at different times.
