Forgive me if this was already covered in a previous thread, but I had a question about getting a calling card. The student handbook says that an AT&T International card is the only one that will work on Saba, so is this something I have to buy from Saba or can I get on here in the states?

To the students already there, do you use a calling card?
Did you keep your cell phone?
Did you switch to another carrier?
Or do you just go through the internet?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm not entirely sure about the calling cards with a 1-800 number. To my knowledge, those wouldn't work because you would still have to dial to the states and will be charged a long distance fee. 1-800 numbers are only free when dialing in the states.

Most people here use a VOIP phone service such as Vonage, Skype, or Yahoo Voice. These are probably your best option for an affordable way to call. VOIP requires a computer with an internet connection, a mic/headset/usb phone, etc.

... you can also buy a "callback" callingcard at Island Communication Services when you are on Saba. The first time you sign up, you pay $25 which gives you exactly that amount in calling time. Calls to the U.S. are $0.24 p/minute and to Canada $0.25 p/minute. Email us for more info (icssaba@gmail.com)
