i am about to come to Saba in may. i was wondering what was the best means of calling back to the U.S. vonage vs. skype as far as clarity of the voice and the rates.

also, do you have any other suggestions?

I use skype all the time and at 2 cents a minute its cheap and quality is great.

One word of advice.. When you arrive on the island, DO NOT use the blue pay phones.. I have posted this on here in the past, but I can tell you from my experience this is a costly mistake.. Unless the rates have changed the fee is about $30-40 just for the connect.. During my first weekend on the island I made 3-4 calls.. They were all less than 15 min.. The grand total was well over $200 (half of the price of my one-way ticket to Saba)!! Even worse yet, one of the calls was to wish someone a "Happy New Years" that only went to voicemail, but it was still charged the connect fee...

anyone have viatalk or sunrocket? one of them seems to always have a promotion for 2 years/$199...which is a great deal.

With vonage getting their *** handed to them by verizon, they may not be able to stand on two feet anymore.

We pay $25 a month for unlimited calls/unlimited long distance to over 30 countries. It is much like vonage except the prices are better.

We've been very happy with it.
