The title says it all.
I got into Ross MERP for April 16 which is 2 weeks away and I was all set to go until I found out that I got accepted in Saba last week for Sept. 2007. Which decision do you think I should make? MERP is like $20,000 for tution and living in Florida for 4 months, which can almost pay for 2 semesters at Saba...so it really comes down to..which school can provide better education and give me a better shot at a decent residency program in NY.
Also if I do attend SABA in Sept 07 when is my expected date of graduation if everything goes smoothly?
Finally, is it possible to do all clinicals in New York area if I went to Saba? thanks all!

Well since you in the Saba forum, go to saba!
This seems like an easy choice to me, Saba will definitely be the best option. You will save a ton compared to Ross with same recognitions and the smaller class sizes are ideal. Island is small but I'll be there sept 07 as well :)
I don't even know what MERP is but it sounds like some sort of premed type thing. If it is, why put yourself through that when you've gotten into SABA?

I agree that this is a no brainer- Go To SABA!! but of course I'm biased since you are on the Saba forum.

hmmmm... I believe that there is a difference between being accepted into a med. school (SABA), and potentially being accepted (ROSS); remember that MERP does not guarantee acceptance. good luck.

i start ross in may and in this case i say go to Saba! don't waste time with MERP. I had that option with SGU MPH for Jan 07 and Ross for May 07...i didn't want to waste anymore time and money.
Salutations "DocSophina":
Given the options, Saba would be a better choice. Ciao.
My premed GPA was 4.0 and my MCAT was 29 and Ross still wanted me to go to MERP. When I got this news, I called the Dean of Admissions to appeal. His response was that the school takes the Admissions Committee's decision very seriously and that there was no chance of appeal. I persisted and told him that I had the money to attend Ross and that if I had to move my family to MIA for 4 months and spend $20,000, I would not attend.
"Well Mr. Lea, not all Admissions Committee decisions are cast in stone," was the reply I got. My application was reviewed again and I got in, without MERP.
However, I was quite upset with the situation and I looked into Saba, did my due dilligence and applied. Shortly after application, I was accepted and I have never looked back.
Is Ross more widely known than Saba? Probably. Will you get a good education at Ross? Again, Probably.
Will you get a good education at Saba with the possibility of matching into a decent residency? Absolutely!
I'm pleased with the education I am getting at Saba. The faculty, at least the 1st semester faculty, are good. A couple of them are fantastic.
After all this rambling, I will sum it up with this: Forget MERP and come to Saba. See you in September! (Which means that you will match in 2011...)
I understand that we have lots of clinicals in NY....
