after reading a bunch of stuff on the clinical situation at Ross... I can't help but be a little discouraged. If you do well on step 1, dont fail any classes, and am pretty flexible on location, what are the chances I'll be able to get all greenbook rotations without too much of a gap in between them and get all cores done in due time? is it like... 0%?!?!?!?

Probably about a 1% chance. No joke.

Your odds are much greater than 1% my friend. I did well on Step I, didn't fail any classes, and was quite flexible on location. And, I was able to set up all greenbook rotations without any breaks. Well, I take that back. I took two weeks between two electives in order to study for Step II. In fact, most of my rotations were so close together (most times separated only by the weekend) that I had more trouble actually making it to the new location in time for my start date.

Those who say that it can't be done haven't tried to make it happen, or have tried, but not hard enough. It was hard work, but I was able to pull it off. The rotations are out there. The hard part is convincing the programs to give you the rotation. But, with a little time and persistence, it can be done. And, residency programs will really like the fact that you put in the effort to make it happen. If you have any questions about how to go about doing this, don't hesitate to ask.

Good job!

I agree....you dont have to be a 4.0 GPA, 99 percentile step 1 student to get all "green" rotations.

Many have succefully obtained them.....of course you need the patience and persistence too!!!

I would just like to make one comment in regards to rotations. A good number of students on this board have been having trouble scheduling core rotations before Step 2. However, I have had no problems scheduling all cores back to back. I have been doing all my rotations in Chicago and have had no problem scheduling my cores back to back, with maybe a two week gap at the most between one core and the other. It is possible to do cores back to back if you decide to do them at Chicago and possibly elsewhere. If you ask your advisor for a specifc core, and if it's not available in your area, then you may have to relocate. I've read some students taking cores not in time for Step 2. I don't think ALL students have problems like this. Just depends on if you are willing to relocate.

In short, you will not have a problem getting your cores set up back to back. You may have to relocate if you are told there are not any cores available in your area. Looks like there is a new peds site available in Chicago too.

There are more affiliates in NY.

It is even easier to get all the cores in NY as long as you are not in one of the high volume (september) classes with high pass percentages on the step 1 (first attempt).

Allow me to apologize to those who are reading this forum! When I wrote my above post, I did so thinking that I was posting under the Saba Clinical Forum! Shows you how out of it I've become. I guess the enormous release of stress after the match has made it impossible for me to concentrate! Haha! Anyway, if Ross does allow you set up your own rotations, and the state in which you want to practice does not have any silly requirements, I'd be more than happy to share my experiences in finding and scheduling greenbook electives with anyone that wants to know about them! Again, I apologize for posting under the wrong forum! But, if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to reply or send me a message!

^ i 'd like to know how you scheduled electives and other greenbook things.
b/c im not sure how to go on about scheduling electives for myself when i get there. how the process works, etc.

also for ross students: you keep saying no problems if you dont fail, what happens if you failed a semester, but then the next semesters you did fairly well.

No, it's not impossible. In fact I had my entire core scheduled in third year until I got to my last core and found out that I had been bumped off the roster due to overbooking of the core. With such short notice, my peds core ended up close to the end of my fourth year.
