You do not buy your books at MERP, you rent them.

I realize that renting is an option, but there are some students that purchase the books used for MERP.
I was wondering if any of the students that purchased them were looking into selling their books. :)

This is just a suggestion. The best thing to do is wait until you get to Miami before deciding to buy any of the MERP texts. And of course yes you can rent them. When I did MERP 2 semesters ago, I did not even crack open any of the textbooks they prescribed. Most just rented the books and the one book my classmates ended up buying was not even required, which was the BRS physiology book by Costanzo. It is very useful, but Dr. L who teaches physiology does not like it cause it's a cliff notes version of any medical physiology textbook. I do know that a few of my friends towards the end of MERP made a trip to the University of Miami medical bookstore to buy the physio text they use on the island (Boron and Boulapaep), which many of us don't even use here in Dominica. It's too much of a dense read for medical school. A good physiology textbook that is not a review book, but is also by Costanzo, is simply called physiology. So if you want a bonafide physiology text and not a review book, I recommend Costanzo's actual Physiology Text cause it's concise and a very good read compared to most of the more conservative and very thick medical physiology textbooks. Dr. L actually changed the physio text to another medical physio text after our class finished MERP so again you may want to wait until you get to Miami. If you want a head start, then buy either or both Costanzo's physio text and her BRS review book.

Both are good although if you are only going to get one, go with the clinical cases. Both are good to study for the USMLE's too (at least that's what I've heard, I have not them yet so maybe someone else can comment on that).

For MERP purposes, get the BRS Physiology, the BRS Physiology Case Studies book is good too, but the MERP exams in physio are non-clinical vignette from what I recall so it won't be much use to you in Miami. I have the case studies book, but I barely open it cause there isn't any time to do case studies once you start physio on the island. When you get to the island, the physio department hold clinical correlation sessions before every mini. For now, I'd hold off on the case studies book unless you are super motivated.
