i'm starting at CAHSU in Sept '04, i've done 2 months of research into it and other schools in the carribbean... it sounds like it's somewhere in the middle as far as it ranks. of course, time will only tell. Belize Medical College started in 1996, and sounds like they've have 100+ grads, i've talked to some in their residency. one i talked to got into surgery, spent 100-120 hrs/week working during his residency and switched to family practice (really hard on the family). shucks, now they'll be limiting it to 80/hrs/week.
one of my reasons for choosing it is... my wife and i will both be receiving our bachelors soon, and we only spend 8 months in belize, then we will move to juarez mexico for the remaining 3 years. she can work in el paso, texas (where we will live, its just 10 minutes to juarez) and i will commute to juarez every day. you can do clinicals in the U.S. or Juarez, but most do theirs in Juarez.
they say that last year 85% passed the USMLE step 1 on their first attempt. i don't always believe stats like that for any school, but sounds like from people who are already done that there are challenges, like any FMS, but you will succeed.
