Couple of questions....
1) How many applications is IAU getting right now? Obviously, the goal is to increase enrollment from 25 or so....thus, are the applications coming in?
2) I had heard that tuition is going to change....Can you still get that scholarship that was being offered? Why did the tuition change?
3) I am currently finishing up a post-bac so I can apply to US schools a second time. Having gone through all I have this year, I sometimes wonder if I should have just come to IAU in the first place. Can anyone offer insight if they were in these shoes or similar ones? Would you rec. your IAU experience highly enough to outweigh taking a second year to apply to US schools again?
4) What don't you like about IAU?
5) Someone before was bashing IAU and posted that IAU has faculty who teach who have only bachelor's degrees/ No PhD/MD....Im going to go ahead and assume that was just an idiot who didnt know what he/she was talking about?
6) What are some average stats of IAU students? 3.2, 25? 3.4, 25?

Here are some of my views (hopefully they help) -
1) No idea on the application situation - you'll have to get info from an administrator on that - hopefully they can help out here.
2) As far as the scholarships go, I do believe that they are still available based on your previous academic performance. It would be surprising if they were to get rid of them, so they should still be in place. (Once again, and administrator can check that for me).
3) I guess this is where I can help you out the most - I went down the path of US schools and the reason I choose IAU is because they allowed me to pursue my MD without all the hassle - it would have been very difficult for me to get into a US school (I'm sure its fairly evident what that means). Its not to say that IAU picks up students who have no right being here, but with the money that I'll be saving (as well as the time), I thought that this was a good option. Hopefully we get the New York accreditation to make my life a hell of a lot easier down the road. If you feel that you have a good shot at a US school - go for it. If you reasonably feel that you may not get in - think about other options then (IAU being one of them).
4)Well, more students would be nice - but I prefer the low student/teacher ratio (as well as students who actually want to become MD's and learn).
5)You can see the credentials of the professors on IAU's website. You can take what you want from the aforementioned individual, but all the teachers here really know the material and I find them to be invaluable in terms of resources.
6)Sorry, but I'm going to need clarification on "stats" - let me know what you mean by that.
Hope that helps...

I don't know exact numbers, although I do know a lot of people apply, most do not meet the requirements or are waiting for loans to kick in.
2) I had heard that tuition is going to change....Can you still get that scholarship that was being offered? Why did the tuition change?
Where did you hear that information? I believe tuition will have to be set due to loan restrictions. The scholarship may or may not be modified once loans are set in.

That is all personal choice. For me, I was never aiming towards head cardiac surgeon at the top research department in California, so time and efficiency were my choices. I am a BSN/RN and no one has ever asked my GPA or what school i went to. All employers cared about if I was licensed and clinical performance. This school is one of the shortest, fast-paced programs available in order to become a MD. What kind of MD is dependent on your studies and scores...
4) What don't you like about IAU?
The lack of accommodations from being in a 3rd world country. It takes forever to get anything done (ex: shipping computers) due to the culture, customs, etc.
5) Someone before was bashing IAU and posted that IAU has faculty who teach who have only bachelor's degrees/ No PhD/MD....Im going to go ahead and assume that was just an idiot who didnt know what he/she was talking about?
That is NOT true whatsoever. All teachers here are either MBBS, MD, or PhD. Honestly, one of our best assets is our teachers with great experience and who go out of their way to teach. It is not uncommon at all for teacher to hold review sessions until midnight just for us.
6) What are some average stats of IAU students? 3.2, 25? 3.4, 25?
Almost 55/45 guys to girls, average age is about 23, couple of people with experience such as EMT's or education such as a bachelors, and past GPA is confidential.

Thank you all very much! I've been accepted to IAU and am now just kind of thinking my options over. Im confident IAU is going to get NY approval, which would help make my decision easier. Thanks again!
