Anyone that know anything about studying in Romania. We are 2 Swedish student's that have plans to go there but on this forum people don't seem to think it's a good idea!!
We have no safety concerns but want to know about the quality of the education and how it is to study there??
Thankful for all the help I can get!

I think the quality of education will be fine so long as you stick to the bigger universities in the better cities. Who knows what you'll get if you go to these towns no one has ever heard of... (I'd put Oradea in that category).

If you could go to Poland, which is only a few hours by ferry from Sweden, to go to med school, why would you want to go to Romania? The Polish faculties are stuffed with Swedes, from what I understand. And Romania is lagging behind the rest of Europe in almost every category that matters.
Makes me wonder a bit...

The reason Im considering Romania is of course the tuition fees, and now when Romania is a fully acredited member of the EU it seems like a good alternative, IF the quality of the education is OK. I don't expect swedish standards.

Do yourself a huge favor and spend a little time and money checking out the school in person before committing yourself to something you only vaguely investigated.

if u ask about school here in romania..i think its really not bad..i am a student myself and i like it here..u have to understand that there are two school as i mentioned before in this site that are worth trying...one is bucharest and the other is cluj. i am now in bucharest but i did study one year in cluj and i really loved there...and there there were students from sweeden and from other countries as well. Cluj is nice if u love small cities and friendly people...bucharest also is nice if u love big cities with all the options big cities have...its the capital u know.. best of luck

Hi, I am a romanian doctor. I studied in Iasi. I am surprised I find messages here about medical schools I didn't even know there were in Romania ( like Sibiu and Oradea ). If you want to get some good quality study , go to Iasi, Bucharest or Cluj. Those are the oldest universities of Medicine and they generally have good professors. They also have classes in English, if you don't want to study in Romanian.
Yes , they are good quality universities, it depends on each person how much they want to study or not. There used to be a lot of Greek students and also from Middle East countries, and even India, Pakistan and Malaysia. That was the majority of foreign students, but there were also from Africa ( Sudan, Morocco, Egypt etc ), so I guess they are pretty much open to all countries.
If you want a more monden life with more excitements and more diversity ( and more expensive ) go to Bucharest. If you like a smaller, more quiet city, also cheaper ( in terms of rent, taxis, food, everything actually ) with nicer people, go to Iasi. Whenever you go there if you know someone to help you with the local arrangements ( finding an appartment, the best stores, stuff like that ), that would be great for you and your pocket.
Good luck!

I finished university in bucharest , after learning for USMLE I realised what medicine is, not from my school... if you want to entertain and have fun all 6 years come to romania, if you want to study at european standards go elsewhere :) if you come you will see what I mean :) good luck
