How is the island of St. Lucia? Websites claim it to be honeymoon capital of the world. Do students have transportation and dorms or do most rent cars and houses? How do new students find out about these arrangements? How do most communicate with family and friends back home?

There some really nice spots and but a lot of ghetto areas also. It is a 3rd world country.

We are setting up a "New Student Committee" to help in finding housing, transportation, and answer general questions. Please don't hesitant to contact the Dallas office or email us directly at jjacob@iau.edu.lc

You can call directly by home through cell phone for around $0.15 a min or use internet phone such as Skype for as low as $0.021 a minute.

The island is one of the most popular island of the Caribbean. Dorms are available for students who need it. Most student who are new to he island usually use the dorms but most move into apartments later in their stay on the island. Students can either talk to the New Student Committee, to find out about all question. Most student here for communication have a pre-paid cell phone from the local provider, or you can use you computer for VoIP (skype, yahoo, etc.) They usually charge about 2 cents/min.

The island is very asthetically pleasing but like its been stated, its a 3rd world country so dont expect it to be like the US. Most students rent cars here as its much more convient but buses do run regularly and are much cheaper in the long run as they are 1.25 EC per ride which amounts to about 45cents US. New students can contact the dallas office or one of the student directly with the email provided by one of the above posts iaustudent06. Communication is done by skype (internet phone run through your computer) predominantly (.02cents) a minute per call which is dirt cheap. Cell phones also work but its about .50 cents per minute which is a little bit more expensive.
