I heard it from the rumor mill that SGU is thinking of closing the St. Vincent campus for terms 5/6 and move classes to NYC. I think they are planning on doing this by mid 2008, in turn for current 1st termers.
Is this true??? or anyone heard something different?

This is completely true. The info is all over the web and I even saw an internal memo from Dr. M on it.
Do a Google search and you can find it. Happy hunting.

Just for the record, I don't think they will be moving crap to the US no matter what. If they do indeed close down the St. Vincent campus, the only [likely] place they'd move to is Grenada.

maybe we can all stay at Chancellor M's house in NYC!!! i'm sure he has the rooms and staff to accomodate us all especially since he just built a brand new movie theater, plush velvet red seats w/ cup holders, and a real popcorn machine in the snack area. i'm sure the profs will not mind lecturing there.

can someone please post the website(s) that support this claim? If in fact this is true (whether for the current first termers or for future SGU students), I think it's a great idea (considering I live in NY ;)).

Let's stick with NY.

That's why the title of the thread is Rumors Rumors Rumors... None of this is true. If anything it's more realistic that SGU will keep the 5/6th termers in GND once the new lecture hall and megadorms are built.

Sorry, it's in my nature to mislead and bamboozle.
I am going to tell all of my future patients that I heard a rumour that they are dying.

heres a rumor I heard...say the avg pass for a class is scoring a 70 (i didnt start SGU but I read that passing a class you must get a 70 or 75) but lets say the class average is 85 and your 75 passing mark still lands you in the bottom of the class. So the rumor is that in that senerio you will get down curved and end up failing the class..inother words SGU fails out the bottom % students

sorry- no bell curve in play at sgu- you get a 70 you are getting at least a C, even if the average of the class is 90 (now IF the average on the class is a 70, you might even end up with a B!!).

Yeah no bell curves at SGU, it sounds like Ross might do something like that. The only thing that's bell curved at SGU is the BSCE I but it doesn't matter cause it doesn't really count for anything anyway, just an internal evaluation.

I'm used to the 70's being B's...if 70's are C's, I assume that 80's are B's and that 90's are A's? 60's are D's and below that are F's?

no Ds- < 70= F for the most part.

its funny that you mentioned that RussianJoo cause I heard this from my doctor who graduated Ross

Yeah, Ross is known for accepting a lot of people then forcing them to fail out or transfer because they've accepted too many people and don't have enough clinical spots for them.

it could be possible, with the amount of money this school makes of you guys they could probably buy the entire city, the main campus could be the empire state building

I don't think they make that much money off of us, and if they do, at the way they're building up the campus, pretty soon we'll have more buildings than NYC.

its a business. its also a business that gives a good product: a very strong medical education with some of the best residency opportunities of schools in the caribbean. in the "pick your fights" areana, this isnt the best thing to whinge about.
