whenever its not the peak season, which is whenever students are not flying. 400 is very cheap, usually that price is during some special deal/discount. 600 is usuallt the cheapest that i have seen

I have seen tix for $425 flying to JFK via Air Jamaica.. keep checking their website, they usually have like 1 week where they discount them. I am not sure when that time period is but it's usually in the middle of the term ( i.e. off season). Also I think they're cheaper during the Aug term since it's not winter in the states people don't tend to fly to the carib during the fall.

the best tip for booking tix to and from the island is to book as far in advance as possible before others book em up.
you can also save several hundred dollars by arriving earlier or later than most other students.
you can also sometimes save money by booking two seperate flights (ie jet blue to san juan and then liat to Grenada can be alot cheaper than American the whole way, but can be inconvenient and stressful)
Make sure to check multiple websites for the best price (sometimes these can be on travelocity/expedia sometimes on the airline's website).
another fact to keep in mind is that if your trip is longer than than 3-4 weeks, the cost goes up alot. keeping in mind most of us make 2 trips to and from grenada per year (come down, go home for xmas/summer, go back to grenada) most people will buy the two following itinerarys.
FLT1 FLT2
outbound _________________outbound
Aug 07 us-grenada_________ Jan 08 us-grenada
return ____________________return
dec 07 grenada-us _________may/june 08 grenada-us
both of these are long trips (over 1 month) and cost @ 600-1000 rt each
a better idea is to do the following
FLT 1 ________________Flt 2
outbound _____________outbound
Aug 07 us-grenada_____ Dec 07 grenada-us
return ________________return
may/june 08 __________Jan 08
grenada-us ___________us-grenada
this option has 1 long trip and one short trip (several hundred dollars cheaper) I once saved over $500 this way.
hope this helps

Toddaa1 thanks so much for that tip! it's very clever. i've been searching for tickets during different time periods to compare when its cheaper. its difficult to find tickets cheaper than $600

the only down side to todd if you dont mind is that you will have the spend the winter break in gnd, which is absolutely fine if you are up for it. i know a few people that have done it this past break and they loved it

That's nice to hear for a change. I usually only hear people complaining about how much they hate it here.
