Hey guys I go to UCLA and I turned my application in during the beginning of November. I got a letter from SGU asking for my fall transcript grades in Jan so I turned them in and they received them on Jan 15th or so. Still havent heard back from them. How long did it take you guys to get your interviews? Also, one of my friends turned in his app in Jan for Jan 08 and he got rejected within a couple days. Im just really confused and the whole process is nerve racking!!

Hey MohAli,
I'm a fellow Bruin too (graduated 2004). From what I read on this site, getting an interview offer can take as little as a couple of weeks to a couple of months. It took about 4.5 weeks for me. It seems as though the admissions committee handles applications in batches, so timing can be highly variable. As for you, did you apply for the August or January class? If its January, then your application may have been put on the back burner while August class is figured out. If its August, then you should call your counselor and make sure everything's ok.

Hey,
I applied for the aug 2007 class. I contacted the SGU rep and she said to allow 6-8 weeks for processing but do you think that thats a good sign or bad? They asked for my fall Q grades and luckily I did well my fall Q. I emailed her again just now just to follow up again. Do you think its lookin up for me if they are taking this long?
Don't worry! Everything at SGU takes long!:)

My hunch is that its a good sign. It's a lot easier and faster to reject an applicant than to continue processing them. The "6-8 week processing" line is just your counselor's way of saying you're gonna have to continue waiting (I got this myself a couple of times, and can feel your frustration). According to the website SGU interviews a majority of its applicants (50-60%), so if you're stats are in the high 20's MCAT and low-mid 3's GPA ballpark then you should be ok (if you don't have deal breakers, like being reviewed by an academic disclipinary board, arrests, ect...).
Regardless, be super corteous to your counselor and keep an open line of communication with them. You paid an application fee, and SGU couselors are supposed to be there for us when we have questions during the application process.

I talked to one of the people on the admissions committee a while ago when I attended a SGU seminar and they said that 1 in 9 people get interviews and 1 in 3 people from the interview get admission into the school. I think thats far lower than 50-60%.
ahhhh this whole process is nerve racking!!

That very well may be. I'm quoting the FAQ section of the SGU website. It might be out of date.

LOL, I know what you mean man, I was using injuries as my excuse too, but after last nights game against Denver I dont know...It was painful to watch lol. Oh yea and the Raptors guy....well sadly I know him lol. I actually went to a Raptors vs Lakers game here a month or so back and it was a great game, except that we (Lakers) lost! lol Well lets hope they play better today! Later
