Hi,

Just had my SGU interview over the weekend in Toronto. Simply amazing and brilliant experience. I learned so much not only about the school, but on social and medical views on medicine in the US and Canada as well. My interviewer and I had really interesting conversations about healthcare delivery, and this person was very polite and was a true ambassador for the school.

I encourage anyone who interviews with SGU to really ask poignant questions about the interviewer's own experiences and feelings on medicine, it will certainly give you a lot of food for thought.

I was asked all of the general questions that one might expect. I found the ethical question challenging, but I came through fine overall. The only advice I can give you is to be very humble and thoughtful in your answers, as that is what I believe they are looking for.

I was told that I would hear back from SGU 'within a few weeks'. I am guessing a month or so. Total interview time for me went an hour and a half, including the 10 minute essay. Reason it was this long is because we had a really thought provoking conversation about medicine in general.

Overall, to anyone who is scheduled to interview, you are in for an amazing experience in terms of what you can learn. To anyone who has interviewed, good luck to you all.

My interview experience:

Lasted 45 minutes(the interviewer was 15 min late)
- includes the elevator ride and 10 minute essay(supposedly had to be 200 words..mine was only 120 words max)
- general questions that you would expect
- Why physician? Any significant experience that changed life? How pay for it? Can you handle island life? Why do you think you will do well? What do you think about euthanasia? Have you applied to other carib schools and status? - he jotted down notes while i was talking(a couple words for each question)

Asked if I had questions..
End of interview
Note: The doors of the building were locked but the security guard came and opened it.
I thought my interview was bad, I forgot to say a whole bunch of things but I guess it really didn't matter.

Is your interviewer Dr. F?
If so, PM me and I can give you some information about how my interview went with him.. I interviewed mid October and was accepted 2 weeks later for Jan 08.

Hey guys
I had my interview last week, but in Kansas. I didnt' know that the essay was suppose to have a certain amount of words. I just wrote until I ran out of space. did it say in the instructions for it to be a certain length?
Also, how did you guys dress up for the interview? i wore a suit, which I thought was overkill, but just curious what you guys wore.

i ended up writing to the max on the essay, but then again i got really large handwriting, and i was wearing suit and tie for mine.
My interviewer was also wearing a professional suit.
maybe overkill, but its always better to be overdressed than under dressed in my opinion

My interviewer wore a t-shirt. I wore a suit. I don't recall there being any length/word count minimum requirement on the interview essay.
