Your medical (including pre-med) education is one of the largest investments you will make in terms of both time and money. Be wise in choosing a school. Take the time and spend the cash to visit the campus of each school you are interested in. Talk to people enrolled in the program that interests you. It will save you much heartache, and possibly much cash, later.
Beware that many of the people posing as "students" on these websites are actually owners or employees of the schools. They use these sites as recruiting tools to try to lure in students. What does that say about their integrity?
I am affiliated with NO MEDICAL SCHOOL. I will not advise you to go to or not to go to any particular school. I do warn you to beware of the possible pitfalls that await you when you are attending an offshore school. To insure that the school you choose prepares you for your chosen career (and is still in business in 4 years), make sure the school you choose has a GOOD ACADEMIC RECORD, GOOD AND SUFFICIENT FACULTY, GOOD FACILITIES INCLUDING CLASSROOMS, LIBRARY WITH UP-TO-DATE BOOKS/JOURNALS AND LABS, and is FINANCIALLY STABLE. Unfortunately, I have seen many people hurt by making the wrong choice.
And finally, I have met lots of MUA-Belize students, but no one who has done pre-med work there.

for the record, I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH MUA BELIZE IN ANY WAY EXCEPT HAS A STUDENT, I DO NOT RECEIVE PERKS OR ANYTHING FROM THE SCHOOL NOR AM I A "RECRUITER", so that being said, mua belize is now almost 7 years old with several students heading towards residency. some students like to knock on us, because they were jaded, because they failed out or partied out, so they want all of us to go down, even ones like me who excelled at mua belize and now doing great at mua belize clinicals in the u.s., sorry slighted knight that you couldnt keep up, i find it rather strange, that you know quite a bit about mua belize, yet you claim you never attended? what is your agenda? why are you obessed with my school? if you never attended? YOU ARE A RECRUITER FOR CASHU!!

What an interesting post, Billy. I said nothing about your school, just gave some good advice to anybody thinking about attending any medical school. How could you disagree with that?
I was not going to get into this but since you asked....
I am a San Pedrano who has watched what your school (which has been in business since Jan 2002 - that is 5 years not 7) has done to many of its students and employees. They come talk to me about it. I have heard many stories of academic and financial irregularities there. I know employees who can't pay their bills because they are not paid their salaries on time. I have heard the administrators make promises they do not keep. I am glad things worked out for you, but I have seen good people, students and employees, leave because of what has happened to them there. That is my interest. I don't want to see anyone else hurt.
No I will not tell people not to come here. We need the money they bring. But before committing to a school, I hope that everyone does their homework on the academic integrity and financial situation at any school they consider so they know what they are getting into.

thought school no longer exist????

YES!! the school very much "exists", mua belize has a permanent medical campus that was constructed from the ground up as a medical school!!, plus it's been around for years, and i'm proud of my alumni, now i'm doing real good in rotations, and sooner than later i'll be jumping on the residency bandwagon, and at mua belize, we get to do all of our clinicals in places like Chicago, and Atlanta.plus we got to do an aunthorized KAPLAN program complete with videos and your own personal set of the latest kaplan moves for no additional cost!! this school is your best bet! I LOVE it!!! and u will too!! dont listen to "san pedranos" supposedly students talk to them, all the locals do is binge drink and harass foriegners, they have there own problems, they should be focusing on them instead of negateing the school, the school is 99% of the islands economy, if it was'nt for my school, they wouldnt be able to afford there beers.

I think Billy has finally lost it. Please do check back at my other posts (click on jadedKnight to get links). You will see that I never claimed to be an MUA student, or a Canadian, or a tourist, or a bar tender.
I don't know why Billy has so much hate. She has never refuted the observations I made about her school, but replies with immature personal attacks.
As to the claims that the school supports the island, San Pedro is the top tourist destination of Belize. Last year tourists spent US$175,000,000 in Belize (Belize tourist board info). Did the 10 students at her school top that? I don't think so. I do not know why she hates San Pedranos so much. Perhaps her husband spent all his time at bars drinking when he was here, but most of us are hard working people who love our families and our island.

Many negative posts on these boards are from agents from other schools or students who have failed at the school. Try and talk to students or graduates for real info.

Yes your right i am a failure and a drop out, and a drunk etc. etc. etc.
Why do you guys not defend yourself and refute what i am saying..rather then taking it to personal attacks. Sadly i don't even want students to defend the school i am calling out to the dean to defend it. I know she/he reads these so why does she/he not be bold enough to defend the school. It was nice to get grades when all you had to do as per the dean was to post some "positive" information on these forums.
Forgive my angry tone in the other post, but why do students not help each other vs hurting each other do you think that you will not suffer as others you are leading. In a field that is suppose to be of kindness and helping man kind why don't you take the better road, if you know the school has problems ( worse then others since most every student that has come through the school has left as well as faculty) then why do you just not keep quite rather then speaking so much lie's.
I just wanted to add that regardless of what any student decides you know what is best for you.
For R.S and J.S rest assured that you can never run from everyone and anyone for too long you will come to answer for everything sooner or later!
I am done with this thread and this non-sense school

Seems to me you are making all this up.

If I were starting over, I would take the premedical classes at my community college and focus on the MCAT to gain an acceptable score. I am currently attending a Caribbean Medical school; however, if I knew how to study as I learned here, my MCAT score would have gotten me into a US school. I would check with a pre-medical advisor, family, and residents (I learned Caribbean route from Residents training at the hospital). People who have done it know that hind sight is always 20/20. As one doctor told me, "you can do the Caribbean Route, it will just be harder"; however, biological clocks do tick and sometimes it is best just to get started. My 2 cents.
