A family friend has asked me if there are any Caribbean Dental Schools .. Can anybody provide me with some info ?? Ideally, he is looking for a similar system to AUC's (1/2 basic science in the caribbean and 1/2 training in USA).
Thanks!

from what i've heard, going foreign for dental school is not anything like going foreign for med school. it doesn't not transfer well, it's not very wide spread (26% of US docs are IMGs).
i know of a person who had to completely redo dental school in the states because his degree was not valid in the US (coming from S. America, I think). That's all I know, maybe things have changed. But it's not as wide spread, and I would advise against it.

That particualr model does not exist in dentistry education. Even for foreign dental grads, you have to come and basically re-do 2 to 3 years of training in the U.S. and pay for such training under some specific programs.
Good luck

tell him to check out UWI. it is a five year program, and the finale year is intership in an american school. i do not know which school, i think some where in NJ. but not sure. the dental program is not at main campus but on the hospital ground, so not that great to look at. its in trinidad. the school is ok, much cheaper. services are slow and not that great. overall, its ok.
i attend there right now, first year, and i have been trying to see if i can transfer back, has not been going good. trying to decide if i want to stay for five years because its cheaper or take the DAT's and try to go back to the USA to start out as first year.
good luck and i hope this helped.

Hi, I was interested in going to UWI for Dentistry as well. Just had a few questions:
How easy is it to get into the school?
What type of requirements do they require?
What is the expense?
How well does it transfer on completion if you want to go to practice in Canada/USA?
How good is the nightlife? partying? and people? social life in general
Thanks

I know about dental practice sale.Quite often doctors will get a practice appraised and then not have anywhere to go to see if the appraisal is reasonably accurate. AFTCO sells more practices than any other firm in the United States and that experience allows us to make the most accurate appraisals. If you have recently had your practice appraised in preparation for selling, or have been given an appraisal for a practice you are considering purchasing, then AFTCO will be glad to give you the advantage of a free second opinion appraisal. It never hurts to check, and it can cost you a lot of money if you do not.

Is there a list of test or anything? If i go to European Dental school, there is no way I can transfer my degree back to US?

Can anyone tell me how much are their tuitions for a dds program? What are the cost per year? I can`t afford schools in the US, and trying to avoid student loans. Does the school have an office in the US? I finished my premed in the states (Community college MUCH CHEAPER TUITION), but i just decided to go to dental.
Thanks a lot
