So, I have a question for all of you who are students already. My sister is getting married the second weekend in September and I need to fly back for her wedding, is it going to be a big deal to miss 2 days of class? Please let me know. I just don't want to have to fly out Friday after class and return Sunday, especially since I am the maid of honor. Thank you!

If thats the second week after school starts, you'll be having you first anatomy block exam...practical on friday (over around 3:30) and written (tuesday AM).

So far it looks like the wedding plans will interfere with exam schedules. However, if they didn't, you could make it back for the wedding. I had 2 classmates that did it (I think during 3rd block) last semester. They made it to California and back without missing too much.

I took off a week in 2nd semester so I could help with the birth of my son in the U.S.

Taking time off is no big deal for such big events as long as you request leave from the dean in writing and talk to all your professors so they know what is going on. If you ask nicely they may allow you to take a different version of the block exam when you would return, but that is up to individual professors. So just ask, it cannot hurt!

The hard part is coming back to the rock after having escaped for a few days. :D

You can totally take time off for any reasonable family buisness, just let them know as soon as you get here. My question is if the administration is going to let me fly back to Michigan if the Tigers make it to the world series. I've been pretty much waiting for this my whole life, and assuming they win, my grandfather can finally die in peace. Think I can convince them that this is an important family event for me?

Well, since Minnesota won the ALC over you guys, I would say that you have no hope!

Well, last I knew, the Tigers DID make it to the world series. Smoked Oakland 4 games straight. Didn't the Twins lose to Oakland...? Oh yea, that's right..... Sorry if that is a sore spot.

Thank God that series is over with and I have some time to study finally. Now.... Just have to find some world series tickets laying around.

Oh and for anyone that doesn't know me, I'm the guy that wears a Tigers hat every day.

It's about time the Tigers made it back to the World Series! Been since the mid-80's hasn't it? I'm just pleased the Yankees lost!
Go Tigers! :D

So, I will be in my second semester when I leave for my sisters wedding (I dont' know what I was thinking when I was thinking I would still be in my frist). Is it going to be easier to be gone for a few days in second semester?

Hi.... Didn't I read that you were matrculating in January/07 and your sister's wedding is September/07....? I believe that will have you starting your 3rd semester!! Right??? Or did you defer until May?

Honestly, this whole starting in January thing is really messing me up. I am used to starting school in September, and then you don't have summer semesters, blah, blah......

Okay, you are correct. At least someone is paying attention. I usually post on here at work, so I have a million things going on.

Hang in there Kiddo.... Pre-Game Jitters!!!:D I'm sure once you're settled on the rock and have a couple of semesters under your belt you should have no problems with your sister's wedding.... Good Luck....
BTW... Also read you jog a few times a week.... my son (1st semester) also runs and has gone through a couple of pairs of runningshoes.... bring an extra pair....or.....two..

I am already ahead on that. I know how rough the roads are, so I am bringing at least two extra pairs!
