Please dont shoot! I come in peace. *waves white flag* (actually its a torn and dirty white tshirt, but you get the idea)
I was wondering why no prospective vet student had posted on the SGUSOM forum in awhile. This forum has been up for over a year now and i just found out! I must admit, i wasn't too thrilled about the thread http://www.valuemd.com/sgu-veterinary-school/94064-serious-problems-vet-school.html
Truth be known (i bet i'm gonna catch flack for this from the MD students) i always envied the vet students at SGU. See a vet student is much more likely to be in the field for the love of it and having a passion for animals. As for the human medicine specialists, there are just too many who are it is strictly for the $$ and prestige. Thus, i believe their bedside manner and patient care suffers. Plus the vets always seemed to be having a good time in grenada while the med students were grumpy. (I have been informed since i left the island that there may be a couple particular reasons for this, but we wont go into it here.)
It took hurricane Ivan for me to realize that some people actually think of their pets as their own children. I will probably never understand that, but now i am aware of it and it helps me to rationalize things when it comes to pets and their owners/masters/caretakers/adoptive parents/your favorite PC term. It was also the hurricane that offered me the opportunity to work along side vet students and interact with them much more than in the daily campus life pre-Ivan. All of them were great experiences (except for one sour apple, but the other vet students assured me he really was sour).
If i decide to get pets down the road, rest assured i will seek out the closest SGU vet.
Does SGUSVM qualify for Federal stafford loans yet?
