I'm having trouble understanding the difference between a selective and an elective. Can one only take selectives in the clinical years? Things like the International Health Selective, Surgery Selective, Complementary Medicine Selective, when are they taken? ...And what is an advisably "safe" number of selectives to take ( considering time sontraints and work load)

Gracias!

Selectives are what you take during your basic science year. Most people don't take any selectives and by most I would say about 70%. Sure the selectives are cool but they don't really do anything for you academically.

Electives are what you take during your 4th year of medical school. That's when you basically pick specialties that interst you and you do a clinical rotation in them, this is when you can also repeat a rotation that you have already done, like lets say if you want to be a surgeon you can do the surgery rotation again.

Also don't post on the classafieds section unless you have something to sell or want something to buy!

Posting to the classifieds section was not my intention. I apologize and thank you for the response. I appreciate it.

So then you're not selling a selective? :(
