Hy 2433 Do you know everything about Celiac Sprue?
q) If given a case of a man w/ celiac sprue who is non-compliant w/ meds, and say he has reported recent weight loss and diarrhea, what vitamin/mineral/substrate is he lacking and what kind of anemia will he have?
Name the likely vitamin/mineral/substrate and what kind of anemia…
1) Vit B12 and macrocytic anemia
2) Iron def. And microcytic anemia

is the answer iron because it takes a much longer time to be b12 deficient? just trying to think through the question...cuz i was a little confused since both are aborbed in the terminal ileum...

I think that is a great response. The liver has a lot, years in fact, of Vit B12...unless you are a pure vegan and hate the killing of animals for mankind's taste buds... TK
