Is there anyone that is either currently doing or has done their rotations at Aultman? If so, where did you go for your OB/Gyn and Surgery cores, and was it hard to transfer there? I was told by the head dean yesterday that Providence will not accept students coming from Aultman into their OB/Gyn program, and I don't want to go to Chicago (due to the Texas licensing requirements). I was just wondering if anyone else has found a solution to this problem. Is it feasible to go to another region (such as New York) for just two cores?

I have done almost all my rotations at Aultman. I love the place! I even got my surgery rotation there, however, a once Carib student now transferred into local med program raised a stink about co rotating with other school students, since this school has an exclusive contract and clause saying students from other schools can't co rotate. This probably ended future surgery for foreign students, but who knows....I had an excellent surgery rotation from a top surgeon who took me on after having proven myself during other rotations. Can't say enough good about the place especially after NYC.
I had to do my OBGYN in NYC which was a trade off but still worth it. OBGYN is a more political dept at Aultman-yrs ago had AUC students and many faculty were willing to take me on(still have Ross students). The school was willing to let me do it there, but I ran into a wall on this one. Could luck perhaps this wall should come down, There is a strong OBGYN residency program there and would be nice to get students included.
Currently, I'm at Barberton Hospital doing a sub I -Fam Med, then EM 4wks and then done with med school-PM me if I can help.

aren't we supposed to be gaining spots with the tuition increases...and not losing them? I heard through the grapevine that we're losing Lutheran hospital as well...for everything...well, cores that is, not sure about electives.

I wouldn't say this was a case of the sky is falling, rather discussion on what one has heard. I often found the rumor mill on the island to be close to 80% accurate too of those I heard.
There is merit in the persons statement about tuition going up and the possibility of losing a clinical site.
However, I must say, the tuition increase is due to the bloating of faculty on the island due to the current dean stating that faculty are overworked teaching 1-2 hours per day with preplanned lectures that never get updated or reworked. I presume it is due to the increased administrative responsibilities of those professors on the island that is being required of them.

They also said at this most recent clinical orientation that they have not been able to schedule anyone for Providence recently... Apparently there is a new clinical scheduler/coordinator there who is not returning phone calls and emails, or something.

providence schedules 2x per year. all students just started there is no one to schedule until next year. there is a new coordinator in training getting caught up takes time when the last one left unexpectedly. she is in her office when you go in with tons of papers. give her some time to get organized.
