... try to sit for the test if at all possible before the end of the year. If the changes are approved, they will push in the next requirements after January 1st 2007! I cannot believe that they would do such an awful thing, but I am sort of not surprised. TK

I thought the minimum passing score rose by ~3 points every three years :confused:

If so, then should be no surprise. Yet, I can imagine how a 3-point increase could shut the door to many, many people :(

the reason i think they are due to raise it... back in 2003, it stayed at 182, but the previous 2 times it was raised by 3 points. so my guess is that it will be 185.

thanks tommyk that also means all have to study hard esp if aim is juz to pass well does that mean required scores for reside also will get affected ??ii.e for IM -score needed-->217 or someting like that and now after 2007 they will change too??

The bulletin from USMLE.com makes no specific mention of passing scores being raised...just that the Step I committee is assessing the minimum pass scores.

No, the closing statement in the bulletin states that the changes, should they be made, would be effective for those sitting for their exam after January 1, 2007.

They need more Medical Doctors in the US, they only graduate 15,000 a year and they only accept like 6,000 IMG per year for residency "I think" so the logical thing to do is to lower the score right:cool:, well unfortuznlly that is not the way the think, so it may go up to either 185 or 192

We have a population of 300 MILLIONS and how many MD are in the US.
