If on an exam given a sickle cell pt w/ osteomyelitis...we should chose Staph over Salmonella?
How would u differentiate from the stem of the question to chose one or the other?

Listen, regarding Osteomyelitis, understand sensitivity and specificity. For example, while a larger % of people w/ sickle cell have osteomyelitis, the REVERSE is not true. It is a subtle question that you must read in the question stem CAREFULLY, as they will try to trick you. The most common OVERALL organism is often a trick question... Is that more clear? TK

With sickle cell + osteomyelitis, go with Salmonella.
