Is that just a lengthier name for "Larkin"? Or are there other hospitals that now allow Ross students to take electives?

GMHETC = The Haitian Center in Miami, I thought. They have affiliations with lots of regional hospitals and place students in them. Well, at least that's how it works for AUA.

From what I understand the name "greater health and training center of south miami" is owned and operated by our very own dr. F. I am not into the particulars about if ross pays him or how that works, but, from what it seems he subcontracts out the "doctors" for your fabulous clinical training in miami. This includes the ACLS and First Respnder Course we all took. If any one knows otherwise, please feel free to enlighten me. Also, if you have noticed, when you enter the 7000 building, there is no mention of ross anywhere, until you actually enter the door. Everything is under "the greater health and training center" - I do believe he rents out the two floors. Remember folks this is a business.

My understanding too, is that Dr. F has some direct involvement in this, and I HOPE it is better than the "Haitian Center" lectures we got in AICM...a long drive for sometimes less than 2 hours of lecture for 5 valuable days we could have studied for that *&$() COMP.
Is the Miami semester ACGME? Thanks.

I dont know about you but my Hatian Facility lectures where all the length of time they told us and they where sometimes not the highlight of my day to drive 2 hours in traffic but they were excellent! the doctors giving the lectures wanted to be there! and their topics where basic medical problems like on diabetes, HIV, asthma...ect...I thought they where great.

I liked the asthma doc chick the most. She brought all those samples to pass around as well.

What surprised me is not only that he MADE you guys take ACLS (which really isn't required for clerkship)...but also how much he charged you guys for ACLS!...i wonder how much of it went straight to his pocket.
Makes me glad i did 5th in Dominica...and ACLS only cost me $30 at the hospital that i'm at right now..

Can anyone confirm that the Miami Beach Family Medicine rotation is ACGME and will be approved in the state of California or Texas? I've been looking everywhere and cannot find anything. Thanks.
