i studied off and on for about 4 months. i would go hard for a few weeks, burn out, take a week off and start again.
so finally sat it on thursday...
my form was so heavy on molecular bio... omg.. so many things i had never seen NOT in fa or q bank.. not trying to be discouraging at all but wow.. i will say this:
i doubt i passed. i think thats supposed to be the way you feel but really wow i just dont think i did..
time was an issue on a few blocks. i skipped the tutorial and saved that break time gosh it came in handy.. i always took about 9-10 minutes between forms.
rarely though did i feel an answer "on the tip of my tongue" pretty much either knew it or didnt..
i would say i probably knew cold about 20%, another 15% i had a very good idea.. another third i could get to 50/50... and the last third, well, either had no clue or had never even heard of it...
so different from q-bank. many 2-3 tiered questions.. a few strait up, a select few...
i did all of q-bank (hitting 50's by the end) and nbme 1,2 and free 150... i saw ONE question that i had seen before. there are SO many ways to test a concept..
if i had it to do over again, i would have read first aid one more time. so many easy q's i left on the table b/c i didnt have f/a in my head quite enough. i did however take first aid with me and during the breaks i would read some random page of info i hadnt covered well in the past hoping for God to help me, and it was pretty awesome because i got an extra q EVERY block that way, once i got 3!
pharm was strait up, as was embryo. not enough anatomy.. behavioral science, my strong subject, was suprisingly tricky.
my advice then: just study consistently. absorb the concepts, dont worry about rote memorization... forget buzzwords, also they dont really ask strait medical terms always.. ascites could be a pendulous abdomen, a fluid filled peritoneum, a hard stomach, an inflammed abdomen, a swollen belly.. you get the idea...
anyway, best of luck friends. i hope you will take a deep breath and relax. the numbers are in your favor. :) God bless.

Many testers feel like they failed it right after the test. They pass it. So best wishes. Your experience points out the need to know biochemistry and cell biology are becoming a critical part of the test. Thank for the insight.

i just took it yesterday...it was not as bad as i expected..i thought compared to NBME it was a bit easier...but First aid is definitely good specially the recent new one.

does anyone know how to check if one passed before 6 weeks..i can't wait that long!!

i just took it yesterday..
does anyone know how to check if one passed before 6 weeks..i can't wait that long!! Thanks...Look up the OASIS thing - you log in three weeks on a wednesday - If it lets you register you failed - I think - Look it up to be sure. Best wishes for a good passing score.

thanks for your reply.

One more thing about step 1...there was many questions on drugs with graphis presentation of their effect on hr and resistance..etc....and blocking by another type...

many molecular biology too..

thats a very good question..
i based that whole concept on my q-bank record. my numbers there were 2-1... meaning: for every time i changed an answer in q=bank, i would twice as often change the answer from wrong to right, and less often from right to wrong.. so i felt that in the real thing i should follow the same strategy..
sometimes a light in my head would go off and i would feel the need to switch the answer... i think it depends on your comfort level and history... do you trust your first instict (many do)? i dont... as my q-bank answers proved.
but of course if i knew the answer COLD no way would i change it!
