I Was Filling The Application Form For Sgu, And Came To One Of The Essay Topics I'm Supposed To Write On. It's: Discuss The Most Significant Issue Affecting The Future Of Healthcare Delivery In The United States.
Can Anybody Assist Me On Approaching This Essay? I Need To Submit My Application By Next Week, For January Admissions.
Thanks.

-Too many people uninsured and resulting complications of easily treated
diseases
-Private insurance is too expensive for many people who ARE employed
-ER's getting clogged by pt's w/o insurance and the resulting time/money loss
-Pharm companies influencing the prescription of new expensive (and
not necessarily improved) drugs
-Is universal healthcare the answer, and if so which model is best?

where are you getting that deadline?
cut & pasted from SGA website:
The final deadline for receipt of applications and all supporting documentation is June 15th of the current year for the August class and November 15th of the preceding year for the January class.
(obviously, the sooner you submit it, the better.... however, i think you've got another month and a half....)

For your essay, it depends where you live. For example if your from a low income area, then you can talk about how health care is poor in those regions. But if you dont, then you can of course talk about (assuming you live in the US) how the government is limiting the progress of health research (i.e. stem cell research) . Or talk about HMO and PPO and stuff like that...hope this helps

For anyone who has wrote this essay for the application (the healthcare delivery essay)-
Did you include any references to other research, websites, or other work? I am in the process of writing this essay wanted to know what SGU is looking for in this essay- like just a general discussion on what you know or an actual report type essay
Thanks

sgu looks for a well organized essay that cleary gets your point across with out any punctuation errors or misspellings. You guys make it sound like you never had to write an essay before.
No one on here is going to write your essay for you.

I wrote it like a normal essay, but like a normal essay of that length, didn't include research and references because the word count is way too short for that sort of thing. Instead I picked a simple issue (in my case, the role of technology in medicine) and quickly developed a general overview and the pros and cons as *I* saw them, not requiring of independent research to cite.
No trouble getting in... and they praised the stuff I wrote to the point that the interviewer said he wasn't going to bother to read the 10 minute interview essay I submitted (English was my strong suit... the 7 I got on the PS section of the MCAT combined with a few 'C's in chemistry, on the other hand...)

I guess you're right- the word count is a bit too low for references and that sort of thing
