Do you all realize that these foreign medical schools make a huge profit on Application Fees in addition to tuition and other costs of attending?
How many applicants actually get rejected? It's like the center of a Tootsie-Pop, "the world may never know". 75USD x 10,000 Applicants, for example, that's 750,000 USD every rolling Semester.
Other than being a Diploma Factory according to world news, it's also a Fee Factory. I would not have wasted my time if this was a just a Rejection Quota.
My grades are good, 3.2, 3.5, and 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 Scale ranging from three different colleges that I have attended for three different curricula.
I know for a fact because I realize that after I was rejected from Ross University School of Medicine despite the fact that the Interview with went well, and she had supported my application for Fall 2006. Over 400 Students were accepted, and I get a rejection?
The readers here are indubitably pondering whether or not this post is a bitter attempt to get back at Ross because I was rejected. I know the shame, defeat of morale and my pride is in question because I believe that a person must be a complete idiot to be rejected from Ross or any Carribean Medical School because they all have a reputation of being feasible to acquire acceptance.
No, this is not a bitter reprisal but rather a Buyer-Beware notice to all who have managed to find out about Value_MD and are able to access these forums.
Think about it when you apply to these schools, especially Ross. After reading the additional posts about Ross and the failure rate, I am so glad that I was not accepted to Ross because I loathe to fall victim to what seems to be a Fail Quota. 400 Students and 300 seats available, and 100 students must fail this Fall 2006 Semester? That is highly unacceptable.
I am a diligent student, get good grades, 29 MCAT, but obviously not a genius, and I don't want to be. My goal is just to be a normal person who is able to logically reason and provide good judgment.
I hope that my feedback here have help someone to decide if foreign medical schools or Ross is right for him or her. You are welcome should you find that my comments are useful in your decision to find the right medical school for you. I am glad I can be of service.
For now I am pursuing my medical career within the United States. Thanks to Dr. ***********, PhD in Miami for rejecting me for Fall 2006. Dr. *********** is my motivation for writing this.

You 're a man. How do you get reject from Ross? If you get a 29 on the mcat and you got rejected from a caribb school then apparently there is something . And since you are so glad that you didnt get into Ross then posting this post is senseless.

And you probably are not pursuing a career in the states because if you really are happy at what you are currently doing then you wouldn't give a if Ross rejected you.

If this is the attitude/mindset that came across during your interview, then it's obvious why you weren't granted acceptance.
Good luck on your quest for US Medical School entrance.

Are you? I take it you didn't apply through AMCAS? or secondary fee for each indivual school not to include each time you add a school on AMCAS it's a $30 extra. Do you think that US schools tell you that you are rejected in a fashionable manner??!!!

To the OP,
There are some people at ross that got accepted with sub 3.0 and sub 20 MCAT. Ross grant you an interview to evaluate you in person. Apparently, Dr. C was able to pick that up during your interview.

I am sure you still have a shot at the "other" caribbean schools......AUA, St. Mathews, etc.
You also have options to apply to Poland med school. I hear they dont even require college credits.
And if you so concerned about things going on at Ross (eventhough you are not a matriculated student here).......wait till you see how you "get it" at other schools.

maybe it is a good thing for you.
ross fails lots of students, so they can make more money. and for those who fail, they have to repeat the entire semester.
so maybe that one school that accepts you is the one for you.

listen, I agree partially with what u said, not all. Money making factory-->totally support that. My friend had a 3.4 and a 25 on MCAT and got rejected. He is well rounded and open minded and has a sweet personality that will make a great doctor. He was rejected because his parents wont be able to support him financially (in a small way even) on payments. You know how they ask u in the application form "what do your parents do?" He put a phlebotomist techn. and garbage collector. He didnt even get an invite for an interview.
so, if u are poor or something, they will reject u. I know u will say Loans, but they dont look at that.....they look in ur wallet first and then ask u to come for an interview.

all people that go to ross take loans so i don't see how that matters. Whether you are rich or not, you will have to get loans, unless you are really well supported and your parents make $200,000. Anyways i don't have a pretty penny to support myself, but i got accepted anyways.

all US private schools make money off of app fees.
they don't even look at most of the applications. they just screen them through a computer based on number stats. and they eat your $80 fee.
There are many donkeys at Ross. being a donkey is not a significant reason for rejection.
I hope you applied to sgu and auc at least. If ross doesn't want you, it's their loss. Ross is going down the toilet anyway. take it as a blessing.

I would have to question the point that there are even 10,000 applications per term. I mean, think about it, 10,000 apps and only 400 (can you believe i just said only and 400 in the same breath!) acceptances, then it would be 4% acceptance rate- US schools have a 6-10% acceptance rate!!!!!
Next you must not have applied to US schools. 1st there is the AMCAS and the fees involve with just filing and the the additional fee for each school you wanted the application to go to. Then there were the secondary applications - easily 50-100 US per secondary (Mt Sinai was 125!!!!).
I would have to say that when you posted 3 GPAs for 3 different programs, my 1st thought was did you complete 3 different degrees or 3 different colleges? Perpetual student? or can't complete a degree?
there can be a lot of reasons why ross didn't accept you. Did you think, maybe, to call Dr. C and ASK what made you a weak student and what you could do to improve your application to make you a stronger student? I met him when i interviewed in the miami office and he seemed to be a straight shooter and would probably answer your question.

Just to put things into perspective, last year there were just over 30K applications to all U.S. medical schools. It doesn't make any logical sense to suggest that Ross gets as many applicants apply as all U.S medical schools (10k every semester). Common, let's be realistic. They don't make much money if any off of applications. On that note, Ross is one of the only off-shore schools that has in-person interviews. Most do it by phone (Saba for example) and some don't do it unless your application is marginal (AUC).
Also take into account that the fall is the most competitive semester at any school. Your grades seem good as does your MCAT but the fact that you attended three schools in your undergrad probably didn't look favourable on your application.
If the point of this post is to disuade others from applying because you didn't get in, then I can only say that you're a closed-minded person.
Ross is one of the best off-shore schools people. Look at the school's credentials not some random, poorly written, illogical post.

I totally agree. I was surprised to hear things various PDs told me about Ross.
Since I am in the interview season, I have already met numerous PDs who actually began to talk to me as soon as I said ROSS.
I am learning that places that I just randomly selected to apply to, have nearly 50% Ross and St. George's school grads in their entering class. The chief resident who was with the PD was a Ross grad as well.

one of TWO then, because SGU does in -person interviews as well.
An attitude of entitlement may endanger ANY application, no matter how good the applicant looks on paper.

REMEMBER,
ITS NOT ABOUT GRADUATING FROM A CARIBBEAN MEDICAL SCHOOL THAT COUNTS, RATHER ITS THE MONEY IS IN OWNING A CARIBBEAN MEDICAL SCHOOL THAT MATTERS EVEN MORE
If you think your upset about an application fee, get this, if you apply for your grad plus loan which you borrow for living expense, you take out 39,000 for the year which ross holds onto and disperses every four months, thats some huge interest they are making - multiply that by all the students taking out that loan.

app fees are a scam by everyone. boston colleges med school sent me a secondary app, i sent the $100, and received the rejection letter in the mail the very next day. they hadnt even recieved the check yet!(you can bet i was tempted to cancel that check!). i would say that as dru said, either you ooze attitude(seems so from your post), and the other negative is 3 undergrads? that just screams " i cant finish anything or decide what i want to do". that should also be a warning to anyone who wants to transfer med schools too!
