So what is RUH like? Is it bearable? Like a dorm? Are there kitchen sfacilities? Does anyone have more pictures (other than the ones linked from the housing website)? The student coordinator I spoke with on the phone said that if I choose to live there, to secure it in advance because it fills up fast. I'm not arriving on the island until a couple days before orientation, so I'm a little nervous about securing good housing. Willing to try it if it isn't horrible, for one semester and then move when I get a feel for which apartments are best. Any advice or suggestions?

I was considering this school but too many negatives, cost, island living, high number of students, if I am paying out the gazoo then I want my moneys worth of education and time

That is a good decision. The school keeps raising its tuition,but its infrasturcture is not improving much. it is not even a secret any more, they just want your money and they are going to fail a lot of first semester students.

okay, that wasn't my question. I'm not talking about the school. I'm talking about RUH, Ross University Housing. I'm already accepted to the school and going in January.

My first semester was when the school purchased part of PBH, to make it into housing for new students. They have been upgrading it since I believe. From what I remember its not that bad of a place. Its pretty much basic needs. One big room, with very small kitchen, bathroom. I dont know how the actualy quality is, but I am sure its not bad at all. Plus its like a short walk from school.

However, does anyone else have any updates on this place??

RUH (Ross University Housing) formerly referred to as PBH (Portsmouth Beach Hotel) is a facility directly south or next door to the Ross Campus. It has been discussed at length in the "Housing in Dominica" thread at:

I am locking this thread to prevent duplicity, so please refer to the thread specific to housing on the rock. The concensus re. RUH seems to be that it is small, but close...there are numerous alternatives for better living arrangements, and pros and cons are discussed in the stickied thread.
