Hi everyone!
I am supposed to give exam in october but not quite ready for it due to family matters. Want to cancel it but told won't get money back since I already postponed exam from july. What do u all advice? Is it better to give and see how the exam is ( for experience, i know I won't pass) or should I cancel it? Does not passing on first chance affect chance of getting resedency? would appreciate advice!

if you are interested in applying to competitive residencies, then u should pass it on your first try. even some of the not so competitive residences like FP, pediatrics and IM, require that u pass it on your first attempt while some programs require that you pass it by your second attempt.

So, in answer to your question: Yes, it matters when it comes time to apply for residency. I would recommend you should postpone your date and use the time to study and pass it on your first try.

Good luck.

Go for a first time pass - a bad score will follow you around like yellow cur dog you gave a bone to.... better to drop the money and have a no show which is not reported that a flunk - one flunk removes you from any Ohio residency - 20% of the ones in the US for FMG's. Do you want to have that on your perm records? I think not!!!
