Hey everyone,
After several posts and a few discussions in the "Official Jan2007 Incoming Student Thread", thoughts were to start an Official Roommate Thread.
Hopefully, for those looking to meet other students in their areas OR looking to scout out potential roommates ;) will POST MESSAGES here. SO those with peculiar needs/habits, annoying traits, emit foul odors OR are flat out FREAKS :taz: can find those most compatible to live with:catfight: here.
So good luck to everyone. Looking forward to meeting everyone come Jan.
Cheers,

Hey all. I'll be a first - termer in January so I'm looking for a compatable roommate.
A bit about myself:
I am a 22 year old male from Syracuse, NY with a B.S. in Biology from Loyola College of Baltimore. I am a tennis player and a regular at the gym. I'm told I am easygoing. Generally I stick to a pretty regimented routine to ensure that I get done what needs to get done. I enjoy going out and having a few beers on when time permits it. I am not really a smoker, though I do enjoy a cigar from time to time, and the very occasional cigarette.
I am a news junkie and pay close attention to international politics. My motivation for going to Grenada (aside from the obvious)is, in part, to get out of the American suburbs (as great as they are) and gain exposure toward the end of enlightenment. or something. :)

while this is a good idea, you may want to move this to the sgutalk on the member center on the mysgu internal site.
Its never a good idea to put so much personal information on a public forum.

Thats true, you never know who is looking...but I don't have access to the mysgu yet, I don't think I will for another month.
And, you don't get your mysgu PW until you send in the forms, where you have to send in your housing form to get it...catch 22?
My name starts with an S, I live in a state that starts with a F, and I enjoy many things that end in -ing. Surfing (none in Grenada), playing music (Pretty much have to end that..)...good thing there is diving...

Jay, this woman just saw your post and would like to be your roommate. She doesn't have VMD so I'm posting a picture of her for you. She's not Asian, but I still think you'll really like her.

There's nothing worse than sharing space and spending the next semester with someone you envision burying in the sand and leaving for dead. With that said.....
I'm a late riser (which will hopefully change come Jan) and a night owl (which prob. won't change). Prefer peace and quiet when studying (as opposed to background noise like TV/radio). Not a strict neat freak but can't stand a slob as a roommate. I've been told I'm pretty laid back and easy to get along with (that is as long as there is a mutual RESPECT for person, property and space). I have nothing against smokers just prefer not to have it done in my living space. Don't mind a drink, especially after a tough day (or exam). Without going on like a MYSPACE page, hit me up.
BTW, if there's anyone in the DC/MD/VA area that wants to hang out prior to Jan, shoot me an email. Oh yeah..... did my undergrad at Univ of Maryland and completed my grad degree at Johns Hopkins University.

not true...while the surfing is better in vinnie's there is some in gnd, esp on the atlantic side, up north.
the diving BTW is fantastic!!! And there is nothing better than being able to say- "oh, there is a nice spot to snorkel about 30 yards from the veranda...."

no kidding! I was told tons of times that the ocean is placid all around there...hmmm, I guess I will ditch the bags and use my flight luggage for my board.

around the school, it is pretty placid- mostly caribbean sea so the currents aren't as strong. The Atlantic side is a different story...and of course if a hurricane is on its way....well the surf is incrediable!!

I'm 25/F from California... fairly laid back. Not a fundamental anything. Uptight people tend to stress me out.
I'm pretty much a night owl, though I may try to adapt that. I'm into diving, hiking, and playing guitar (and candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach j/k). I like cooking, and am hoping to offset some of the costs of living by cooking while on Grenada. I don't smoke and don't mind people who do if it's not inside. I drink from time to time, enjoy partying but not a big partier; I can take it or leave it.
Study habit-wise, I'm big on silence. Usually no background noise, and if there's any, it's light and non-distracting (like jazz or classical) on headphones. I'm not a neat freak or a slob. The only thing I'm slightly retentive about is leaving food around because it's the tropics and I've got a bit of a roach phobia.
