My name is Nathan, and I came down to Belize with hopes of receiving a medical education on a beautiful island. The US office and website said the school was "state of the art" with caring professors and a great learning environment. Well, three days went by before any professors showed up for class. The school is unfinished. Their "library" consists of old textbooks donated by previous students. Their "computer lab" consists of two working computers. There is no administration at the school. No one returns calls from the US office. They have not secured TERI loans for their students. When speaking with faculty, they told me that the incoming class was around fifteen students. I thought that this would be great; small classes, more individualized attention. Wrong! Nine students never showed up, and neither did the professors. The entire student body here is less than 10 students! I also came to find out that the professors went on strike last semester because they were not being paid. Our first day on campus this semester, two investors showed up saying that the owed them over one million dollars and have not paid them back. I heard stories of the same things happening before, with people coming and locking all of the doors at the school. If you want to waste your time and money, then come to Belize. If you want a truly great medical experience, try St. George's or AUC. Good luck!

 Ok i was e-mailed to edit this post-- although i was being honest and fair about my oppinion. Anyways the point here is be honest to yourselves and be honest with others. Judge for yourself and make a decision based on how you feel and not what others have to say- the truth always comes out. Good luck

studyhard, i suggest you do studyhard, the school has finished classrooms, the only thing not finished are the lounges, we do not need 30 computers because of wifi and hotspots, all you need is a laptop, and NOBODY can say that the nueroprofessor and path professors are not topshelf excellent teachers. and of course the professors are a few days late, because of logistics and because MAJORITY of students arrive late because of travel arrangements.yes go ahead to AUC and spend $12,000 per annum for identical instruction.at the end of the day everybody is lumped as caribbean. ask the teaching hospitals in Maine or Wisconsin if they know the difference between mua belize, mua nevis, auc, abc, xyz.??

If I'm going to invest my time and money in a university, be it in the carribean or US, I should get what I pay for. Where is the administration? It is customary for the professors not to show up for the first week? What kind of school can do this? This kind of carelesses and disrespect is not tolerated. How can the students be taught to become professionals when the university's faculty and administration doesn't show up?

are you saying the students do not arrive late at mua nevis? are you saying professors do not show up until the end of week 1?, are you saying drugs are not distributed on campus? stop trying to patronize mua nevis, i have a sister who attends there, so do not try to flatter mua nevis, it's a lot worse than belize.

Here we go...school bashing again. Has your sister not told you that MUA has a NO tolerance drug policy and that students are now randomly tested? The school can't monitor their students 24/7 or baby-sit them. A little maturity and common sense is in order here. Get your facts straight please.:p

I have been accepted to MUA, but this information is very disturbing to me. I've already made plans to go and visit the campus and the island, so I will be making a judgement based upon first hand experience. I will have to ask some very direct questions about the school.

Any suggestions as to what questions I should ask?

actually I went and graduated from nevis mua correct me if I'm wrong but the owner of saba and mua sold belize because it was hopeless to work there. and teachers or student DO NOT SHOW UP LATE at mua nevis because they would not be allowed to come and the student pay a fine if they come late. if the school in nevis is that bad WHY IS YOUR SISTER THERE WHY DOESN'T SHE COME TO BELIZE? dude MUA nevis got NY approval and is number 5 on all the caribean schools. please even windsor med school is better than belize

original post is a lot of "they said this and that". if someone showed you a beat-up old honda and called it a mercedes, would you believe them just cause they said it? and that's just a car which is much less important than your entire life and future. maybe some research and school visits would be justified for such a time-consuming and expensive venture as med school

I am so glad they do not drug test at my school. I signed an honor code and that should be enough. I would rather not have my tuition dollars wasted on babysitting students who need to get professional help for issues with drug addiction.

Does MUA B have a pre med program? I have taught on the islands before and would love to teach in belize!

I have heard also that MUA B is a good school and is the best one in Belize.

Here are the rankings:

1) A Level Big 4
2) B Level MUA (both B and N), St James, Xavier, AUA, SMU

Out of courtesy I will refrain from naming more.
