You will get a variety of pateients here. It is on Detroit's North West side and on your your ER rotation, you will see plenty of GSW's. Should be a pretty informative site. Good luck.

Since Sinai Grace is affliated with Wayne State, it's probably greenbook for all core and electives.

I guess you've started at DMC by now. How are you finding the training there? Any good feedback?

WSU/DMC has just lost it's internal medicine residency. The applicants who applied there just found out about it last week.

Make sure all core rotations done in the Detroit area are ACGME.

There was a lot of rumour flying around for a few weeks as the CEO of DMC was making a lot of noise and trying to get a better deal and do some brinksmanship dealing. However, this has now been resolved for the next 3 1/2 years and will probably be resolved for a lot longer. Check out the following pdf from the State of Michigan Governor's Office, http://www.med.wayne.edu/pdfs/Granholm Press Release WSU-DMC.pdf
(http://www.med.wayne.edu/pdfs/Granholm%20Press%20Release%20WSU-DMC.pdf) I work there teaching anatomy for first year medical students at WSU and got all these missives from the Dean's Office!!

The document is dated Nov 22, 2006.....Have you heard anything recent within the last 1 week?

I know that all WSU medical students who interviewed for an IM residency spot will know about possible closures of the program, before the general public. (A promise that was made to them)

As far as I know there will be no closure of the IM residency program. Duggan, CEO of DMC, is playing politics. Should IM residency program close, DMC will likely fire Duggan and try to get the IM residency program back in. Duggan doesn't understand that the residents and interns handle everything after regular business hours. He also doesn't realize that the attendings will leave if they have to work too many off hour shifts. This is the nasty side of medical politics-a lawyer and political hack trying to run a medical center.

Also, as far as I know there have not been any other shifts from the statement issued by the Michigan State Governor.
