I'm niether Jew nor Muslim, but there are plenty in my class and although there are no mosques or synogogues, there is an association for each group. The Muslim students also gather together for prayer if I am not mistaken.
My roommate from 1st is Jewish and had ordered some kosher meats from My Store, which I don't think he ever actually received.

Right, no synagogues or such here. However, you may be able to import kosher goods from St. Maarten. The boat comes twice a week.

The boat comes only once a week and that's only in good weather. At times, it hasn't come for several weeks.
PM me and I'll give you the emails for the JSA and MSA. Both groups are quite large and very active on the campus.

well this is how it is... there are MANY muslims here... we have a large MSA group which get together for every prayer, have friday prayer (khodba), and have many get togethers to discuss islam, have dinner or just to hang out... ramadan is a big thing too here...
the cafeteria serves halaal chicken to accomodate for the muslims, and every store here sells halaal chicken... red meat? sorry no halaal... just chicken..
as for the jewish... to be honest havent seen many here, pretty sure there are, they dont have a group i believe ... and in terms of food its more "halaal" food here than "kosher"
hope that helps...

There ARE Jews at Saba. In fact, more and more are arriving every semester. Yes! There is a Jewish Students group. Its still primitive but starting to surface.

Are there any human students on Saba?
You know the kind I mean, compassionate, considerate, altruistic...the kind the make really good physicians.
Or only students who are concerned with what religion or heritage you are? Sounds like a place I might not want to be.

Please, please, PLEASE brown people, stop asking this!! It's viewed as insular, provincial and frankly racist by many of us.

No, absolutely not. Mostly we are just interested in 4 things: money, power, chicks (or hunks), and money.
People everywhere just like to belong and most also like to be able to worship their creator with the group they belong to. What's more human than that? Let it be.
On being human:
Being a medical student is a double edged sword, it seems to me; on the one hand, you must have a very healthy ego to attempt this grueling path. On the other hand, you have to keep that ego in check in order to be a true physician. Some people do it quite nicely, others not so much. Me...well, it depends on what day it is...

WELL, MR. EXPEREINCED. Its your thoughts that you take it offensive. Its one`s view to see a glass half empty or half filled. You should consider to be optimistic. Specially , if you want to be a good doctor then try to look at the positive aspects of a picture. If you dont change your way to judge people , I bet you would have trouble diagnosing your patients too!!!!!!. Hope you understand and be optimistic now.

I'm just telling you how it comes across in many people's "thoughts."
Now that you've diagnosed where it came from, are you gonna hear what it's saying ;) ?

Im with this guy. Modern religion is IMHO a sociopolitical organisation used to control people, and frankly quite creepy.

I just want to add few words: at Saba there are:
1)many desi
2)many muslims
3)many jews
4)many christians
5)many caribbeans
6)and many other ethnic races
7)we have food for all different races and for all humans and also animals
8)So to speak: Saba is a perfect multicultural environment and expose you too all different stressors in life. Its a perfect place to study medicine.
9) And there is nothing wrong to be religious: actually you need faith to get you through basic science...lol...wheather your faith is God or your own self.....Good Luck
Hope this helps,

Nice post, Siddman. :D
Yes, I agree, boulderunner. Religion often is "a sociopolitical organisation used to control people, and frankly quite creepy". You could point at almost any religion for an example.
Any good thing humans are involved in has the potential to be perverted into an evil thing, and that includes religous institutions, governments, schools, hospitals, etc.
But I hope that does not stop us from striving for the ideal, anyway.

Is this a topic the users would rather discuss in the relaxing lounge?
Otherwise, I shall try and post a list of all SUSOM organizations by the end of the week.Is there an SGA member amongst you who can post an updated list maybe?

Big Rock finally started bringing in GLATT KOSHER meat products to Saba. For any questions about the jewish organization on Saba I've just heard their website will be up and running shortly. You can email them at JSC@saba.edu
otherwise with regards to the other posts there are many religions at Saba University all of whose members are getting along wonderfully.
cheers.
