I'm still wondering which is a nicer experience. Nevis or Belize. Why did you choose Belize?

I think Belize is waaaay nicer. Also, I like the idea that I will be in Central America because I am of Hispanic descent. I know both schools offer the same education, so I just looked at activities/nightlife ( things to keep me sane :) )and found that Belize has the advantage, also I found that things are cheaper to buy in stores.

True....but where there is night life, there is a little more crime. Anyway, I guess you give and take.
I'm interested in Belize myself.

Newsflash....crime is everywhere.
A little bit of crime should not alter your choices in life...

Just for your information, the school at the top of my list happens to be in a place where gun afflicted murders are 5th highest in the entire world. (It might be higher than that.) So crime is not affecting anybodys decision over here.
If you look again, you'll notice that the post merely is stating that where there is night life, you may find the seeds for crime. So you give and take...
Here is a bonus (you wont be charged for this): You tend to find disrespect and many times a lack of discipline among groups that are heavy into rock, hip hop, etc. Unfortunately, that sometimes lead to crime. ....and I can give you statistical and scientific data to back that up!
Its no wonder that certain places deal with problems than others.
Anyway....theres your rocket science and newsflash.

Its no wonder that certain places deal with problems MORE than others. .....and night life and music are only contributers. Its not the root of the problem in many places.

Umm...
if you are used to US-style crime, then Ambergris Caye is paradise. I think theft is the biggest crime issue. My mom has a house on the island, so I've been there a number of times. It's lovely. Absolutely beautiful. I live in Baltimore and I definitely have to stay on my toes more here than when I'm down there.
Good luck and enjoy!

But i never heard of any student having any problems with crime in san pedro... sure if ur drunk and wanna start hassling the locals... thats a different story though... anyway, san pedro is beatiful and simple... u'll love it... enjoy!!

There will be about 10 new students and 15 transfer students this semester. Keeping the class sizes small for one more semester.
I'm a fourth semester student, and congrats to the students who are coming to Belize for medical school. As I was reading the posts... crime is here in Belize. There have been theft crimes against students including myself. My advice: don't leave your common sense at home....
Re: Belize... it's a beautiful place, and there's lots to do here; if you don't like the nightlife, it's okay; If you like the outdoors, and like water activities, or wanted to learn diving and be certified... it's here! There is so many places to visit here also.... San Ignacio is the place to go if you want to do hiking, canoeing, camping.... OR see the mayan ruins; Belize City also has some nice tourist places... such as Old Belize; Then there is the Princess Hotel which has a casino, movie theaters, bowling alley..... there is the belze zoo.... caye caulker to relax.... there's plenty of places to go for R/R after exams... is whatever your heart desires.....
Congratulations again... best of luck in your medical dreams.....

:D
hi, just having been on both islands... nevis and AC - both are beautiful and the local people are very friendly. however i did enjoy life on AC better -- i could walk on the beach to the town and go shopping. i've walked around in the night without any problems. and i love to eat out - as far as i know almost all of the places gave 10% discount when we told them that we were med students. i really enjoyed the 4 seasons and bananas, etc on nevis! but i sure did visit the restaraunts often on AC!! the views are beautiful!! helped me to relax pre exam time and have a good time post exam time!!
just my .02 cents!
