Glycolysis steps

Phosphoenolpyruvate [PEP] Pyruvate · 'Did', 'By' and 'Pies' tell you the first part of those three: di-, bi-, and py-.
· 'PrEPare' tells location of PEP in the process.

questions r/t the actions of glucose...
1. In relation to the peripheral uptake of systemic tissues, what tissue(s) gets regulated in the amount of transporters in the transport of glucose?

2. what does glucose go into tissues as?

Ok so glucose goes into tissue as glucose 6 phosphate, I'm not sure however whats limited...do you mean the SGLUT1 Na/glucose symporter?

the sugars, not just glucose, all get phosphorylated (fructose and galactose)... so you are right, zwobble;

in relation to the other question... I am talking about the GLUTs and insulin and their role in the uptake of glucose... the liver has its' own receptors for glucose; Glut2 is for pancreas but usually for stimulation to release insulin and inhibit the alpha cells to release glucagon, NOT necessarily for the uptake; whereas the adipose and muscle tissues need Glut4 and insulin to help in the uptake of glucose; BUT if this question is asked in the exam... choose adipose tissue (BEST) then choose muscle, why? Muscle has anaerobic glycolysis to make glucose...

Hope that this better explain the question and answer, and I apologize for the confusion... :rolleyes: :p

I apologize... I just recognized the error in the question... I stated the "actions of glucose" instead of "action of insulin".... As Goljan states: "What an idiot!!" that's me... in a fun way of course... :shock: :p

Exercising muscle does not need insulin for uptake of glucose. Adipose, exercise or not you will need insulin for GLUT 4 uptake of glucose
