Can anyone suggest any tips for housing for Jamaica students? The SGU clinical website has stuff mostly for Brooklyn and the representative at Jamaica didn't have anything either.
I've heard of Forest Hills as a possibility.....I'd prefer to take the subway there instead of driving (don't think that will be safe for Q2 surgery!!!!!!!!). Obviously, the neighborhood around the hospital ain't great, so things like coming home late at night without getting stabbed is somewhat of a concern!!!!!!!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Forest Hills is a nice place and is around 15 mins subway. You could also look at Kew garden Hills and you can take a bus from there also I believe

i live around there. the area around jamaic hospital isnt that bad really. forest hills is nice but expensive, the same goes for kew gardens.
u can also try briarwood, rego park, south flushing. the commute will be a little bit longer, but the rent will be cheaper for housing

You can check on craig's list (also someone on sgutalk was looking for a roomie around jamaica). I am rotating at jamaica, and found a place in St Alban that was a 15 mintue bus ride and 2 minute subway ride away (there is also a LIRR station nearby where i live which i think stops in jamaica and would probably be quicker (and more expensive) I am paying 625 a month for a bedroom with shared kitchen/Bath (with 2 other people), furnished and dont need to pay for utilities. I checked out a couple places near the hospital, and (to put it nicely) i wouldnt want tolive there even if it was free.
