Hi everyone,
I am thinking of applying to SABA for the May semester. But there are some drawbacks and I am wondering if I will be eligible to apply even. SABA requires a full year of Organic Chemistry and English. I have taken Organic Chemistry but it was only for half a semester. I know that there are other med schools which substitue biochem for the other half. I also haven't taken any English courses but I have a lot of arts and humanities courses that required compsitory writing ...
So ....... has anyone else had this status and was still able to get admission in SABA?

Wasn't in your position but Saba seems relatively reasonable in accomodating these types of issues. If you have a good case and you have viable alternatives for those courses, I'm sure they would substitute them.

Call or email admissions. Surely, they would have an answer for you. They are usually reasonable, but pre-reqs are quite important since they base your selectiveness on those grades and your gpa from sciences.

hi,
just to address some of the issues you brought up because I recently inquired about them with the admissions team at saba
1- Yes, they are willing to accept biochem as a substitute for the other half of the org. chem prerequisites
2- they are more easy going with the english requirements. for myself, i am doing a masters in education and they were willing to count my credit for my course 'advanced writing seminar'...and they were also willing to count my high school english credit (OAC or 5th year of high school here in canada, in the old system)....so yes..just ask them about your substition for that other half of the english requirement....they are really good at explaining
hope this helps in some way

At UNIBE in Santo Domingo, the organic chemistry is for 1 semester, however it is an 8 credit class that is suppose to cover 2 semesters... and it has a lab (i'll be taking it this coming fall semester infact)
but I'm seriously considering Saba and I'm hoping there wont be any problems
I will email Saba admissions and hopefully they can clarify everything about transfering from UNIBE to Saba, including if there are any possiblities of having to take MCATs
Question about English Classes...
If we know English fluently, like I was born and raised in the US, would they give any problems if I don't transfer any English classes from my current school?

There are a couple of students who's command of english is ... less expansive than others (spoken, understood and reading, don't know about written), and they got in. And are doing well.
I'd imagine that if you're able to explain yourself coherently during the interview you'll have no trouble.
