Guys I need help urgently.
I ve got my entrance exam and interview approaching soon. However the entrance exam is not a problem as ive attempted sample questions and all seems fine. The problem is the interview (oral) part of the examination.
Question(s):
How does the interview work, and what kind of questions do they ask? Are the questions similar to those asked by UK medical schools? I heard that you are given a topic to discuss?.
For those of you who know what the interview at prague entails, please answer!! Help will be very much appreciated!

Hi, I interviewed at the Abbey College for the first faculty and believe me, the exam is the hard part. Once you pass that the interview is more of a formality. Well thats how it worked for us I'm not sure if its the same for 2nd and 3rd faculty. I'm starting in Sept. 06, I took the exam in June. Seriously the most I got asked was why do you want to study medicine and where did I get my undergraduate degree. Hope this helps let me know if theres anything else I can help you with.

Once you pass the exam you should be fine, the interview is really a formality, just a friendly chat.
On another note, how much do Abbey College and other private schools charge to let you take the entrance exams?
It's possible to apply directly to any of the faculties without using an agent, means you have to came to Prague to sit your exams but that way you get to have a look around the city. And if you have a B.Sc or equivalent you may be exempt from the entrance exam and just have to take an interview.
Good luck in your exams!

Yes I too think its best if you go there for the exam because you can experience what your letting yourself in for!
As for how much other private schools charge, I dont know. However, I think Abbey Charges 35 euros for the entrace exam, although not to sure, sorry for that!
Nevertheless thanks for your help. I feel a whole lot better now. Both of your answers have been of a great help.
Thanks once again !

Abeey college charges £1800 for entrance exam and interview. Your better of applying directly to the institution as they only charge 35 euros which works out to £23.30 plus the travel to prague and the faculty. This way it works a lot cheaper and plus you get a first hand experience of the medical school and the surroundings.
Hope that helps

Dear superman19,
well it seems u have already received lots of help but i took the exam & interview in june this yr so thawt i wud pass on my experience for u! the interview is much less stressful than the entrance exam and alot easier than medical interviews in the uk. they asked me to pick out 2 pieces of paper from a hat and i had to discuss them for couple of mins! i had topics on pregnancy and stress!! they give u a couple of mins to think of something and whilst u speak they are prompting u so its alot easier than it sounds..
the exam is pretty much the same as the practice one.. just be prepared that they aren't very organised over there and u should expect to be kept waiting for several hours (not kidding on that, we were kept waiting for at least 5 hours)!!!
anyways best of luck. are u applying for the 2nd or 3rd faculty?? if ur applying for the 2nd faculty, then if all goes well for u, which im sure it will, i will be seeing u in september!!!
all the best,
pooja ramani

Thanks for your answer Pooja.
Although I was wondering, on average, how long is the interview?

Hola.. New member but I have a offer at Charles First Faculty...
A suggestion is that monetarily the deal in the UK is pricey. But since you are ready to sit the exam so close i guess its not a big deal...
The exam is valuable. You need above 50% to contemplate an offer. Those who get close to that amount are grilled openly. "tell us why you wish to come to our facility" Those who get a decent mark get "comedy" interviews...
The guy who did us had a sense of humour... He made one girl grovel for nearly 30 minutes before revealing she had an automatic place cause she got 80%... I got 88% and we discussed world cup football and explained his interest in Cricket. (Apparently there is a cricket club in Prague which he enjoys going to but does'nt understand the rules and wants to play...)
The entrance is a joke. Its not difficult. Just calm down and remember your revision. Most people will get in. Again there is a heirachy in the facilities. First has the consistently highest marks. It is expensive cause its in Prague proper. 2nd is just as good with 3rd being an experiment in PBL. Its better to play it safe and aim first and second facilities. They are both good facilities. I would say its easier than A-Levels.
I sadly payed the "abbey" college fees. The problem is lack of information. Even their papers they set out are a tad ambiguous. So a lot of people are conned in paying their "fees".

I would not say you have been conned. So you don't have to feel bad about it. To go to 1st faculty of medicine, as a UK student, one must apply through abbey colleges and pay the fee. No direct applications are allowed for UK students.
