How many students are going to AGU or Saint Lukes this fall?

This is a new medical school and I am curious as to the following:

1) Apartment costs
2) Safety
3) What will the profs be like
4) Can I practice in OH after graduating from AGU or St. Lukes?

The housing at AGU is very nice! They have leased a brand new apartment complex. Students joining the university this fall will be the first tenants in the building. Housing units include: one bedroom (w/2 twin beds), full bath, study area (w/2 desks), two closets/storage area, microwave, refrigerator, television w/U.S. cable, air conditioning. There is a shared laundry room and a shared full kitchen area. There is also a student cafe where breakfast, lunch and snacks will be offered daily on campus. The current cost for housing is very reasonable, $1400.00/semester (approx. $350.00/month).

Safety - Very comparible w/U.S. As always, use your best judgement! The profs are motivated MDs . . . they know all the do's and don'ts of USMLE & PLAB.

AGU has a very strong base in Ohio (their U.S. Headquarter's is located right in Columbus, OH). The 5th Semester of the Basic Sciences is held in an ACGME teaching hospital in northeast Ohio. Awesome 72 week clinicals in Ohio too! No Problems in Ohio!!!

Yes . . . we have quite a robust enrollment for our first semester of the Pre-Med and Basic Science Programs . . . State of the art technology and motivated students . . . Exciting combination! Apologies if you were not telephoned for an interview, we had an overwhelming request for faculty positions, but to be honest, we already had faculty and staff contracted from the beginning of the planning stage. We may be able to work together in the future. Thank you for your inquiry.

Do any of your teachers have NAMES (Are they persons or paper teachers???hehehehehehe). I do not see any name on your web site. And how you can have clinical students without having a medical school( having 6th semester before even starting the 1st semester, this tells what kind of medical school this is going to be). I think #s go like this..1..2..3..4..5..6 not like 6..and then..1). The students you are trying to lure into clinicals will nerver get a licence anywhere in th world. Belive me not enen in the Beloved Country Of BELIZE.

During its conception, the university has built a strong clinical base as it's foundation . . . Currently many students have transfered into this quality clinical program from other universities. The University is also currently assisting a handful of students who have concerns about their ability to pass their USMLE's because they spent semester after semester completing a medical curriculum based on weeks upon weeks of home (independent) study. I wish to commend a university which has taken on the task to assist transfer students from this form of educational experience. These students should also receive commendation . . . because they are dedicated students. AGU acknowledges their courage and responsibility by allowing them to attend a 5th semester at no charge. They have already paid their tuition for this coursework to another school, but instead of attending classes, they receive a "studyhall" pass! Strong programs are built on quality education programs. Quality education programs will exhist in the future because the students will go on to become wonderful practicing physicians. . . they will get there by passing their USMLE's!

Are you a student of this "home school" concept. I believe this site does have a spell check option which may assist in your future commentaries! MD2011 . . . if I am reading your username correctly, I assume you have a few more years to work on the professional aspects of the medical profession.

I just had some questions/ no need to get nasty guys!

Things usually get nasty because there are many sacams out there that make things out to be wonderful without a history. If you want to review broken promises, money lost, research Medical College of London, St Luke, Oceania University, and on this site look at the posts on the Kigezi section and the St Chris fisaco.

Also the other new schools with issues have been Xavier, St James, MUA-Belize and many others. Look at their beginings and see the promises they made. You can also reaserach St Martinus, St Theresas, Vanguard, UHSA, for background on groundbreaking medical education and advnaced teachnology promises.

As for "generosity" of allowing students to take a free 5th semster that is **, it is marketing and wouldn't be done without knowing they are getting those students to stick with them and build loyalty. It is an initial investment that most of these new schools do to attarct students.

AGU may very well be a good program with great intentions. Unfortunately odds are set against any new schools because of the history above and because there are over 30 medical schools in the Caribbean now, I wonder when they will all start offering free semester tuition.

Now you see why things on this subject get nasty quick, lots and lost and lots of scammers.

You are correct, there are many scammers out there and everyone needs to be tremendously careful. Unfortunately because there are so many scammers, it makes the good universities work even harder so as to rise above the bottom feeders (and this is not intended to be nasty) it is intended to really have students look into a program before committing to one. There are so many people who will use and abuse their power over students and take their tuition and not give them an education.
Truly . . . the only goal of AGU for allowing these students to sit for the 5th without a charge is because we want these students to succeed on their exams. If they do not succeed, the school looks bad. We want to make every effort to prepare these transfer students before they take their Step 1. We do not want them to take these exams without the feeling of confidence and proper background knowledge to be successful. Please do not distort the true meaning behind an institution who wishes to prepare students for success. If the students are successful in their education . . . then this is the marketing tool which will remain the key for longevity!
AGU is hear to make a difference and help clean up many of the programs you have described . . . because what you say is very true!
